I have no doubts that Doeren is 100% focused on NIU otherwise he wouldn't have brought in 3 coaches that have strong NIU ties.

HUGE focus on ramping up instate recruiting to get the best products close to home.

And congratulations are in order for Tripodi on his promotion to his first full-time non-GA coaching spot.

Eyeballing possible recruiting assignments- wildass guess would be Friz's turf will include the CPL, Uremovich maybe takes on Cole's Catholic League responsibilities and maybe Indiana. Niemann maybe gets Canada's old central IL responsibilities. And if they keep QB recruiting in the hands of the QB coach, that's Cole's new primary recruiting task.

Florida is PJ's.

Really hope a breakdown of recruiting turf comes out this off season again. That was informative last year.

They will still recruit as a team though.

Ryan Nielsen is also upped to the Co-Defensive Coordinator

Cue WIS predicting impending doom because of the Novak ties Friz, Fleck, and Uremovich all have.

Nice to give Coach Tripodi more responsibility but I bet he is still technically a GA - or NIU would be exceeding the NCAA limit on the number of Assistant coaches.

Good article but lots of quotes from Joliet Catholic's former coach Bob Stone. He hasn't been the coach since 1996. Weird.

Dan Sharp maybe made those quotes?

Nothing but praise for Fleck on the Rutgers board. If hes as infectious as everyone says he is, then I'm pretty excited to see the energy he brings to the pack.

Infectious? Jeez, it's February. I'm not sure we want anyone around like that during cold and flu season.

Kidding aside. He is a champion schmoozer and bulls#*tter. He's one of those people you can't help but like. He once came up to my son when we were killing time in the Yordon on a Tuesday morning (little girl Cawoo was at soccer camp) and shook his hand, introduced himself, and basically treated him like he was a recruit.

My son was 9 at the time.

Can never start too early. What position does PJ have him penciled in for?

Hopefully, PJ has a brain and realizes that little Cawoo, whether he has the size or not, will play with his hand on the ground.

He was born to wear an ineligible number.

Same thing with me. I dragged my little guy to an August practice a few years back. We were sitting on the "curb" in front of the landscaping in front of the Yordon Center. PJ came over and talked to him before practice started. At the beginning of practice, they were running a punt return drill. PJ was receiving punts at the start of the drill, and after catching the ball, he'd turn around and throw the ball to my son, who became a defacto ball boy. After practice, he came over and played catch with him on the field for a few minutes. Great guy. Ecstatic he's back in DeKalb.

Great Hire. Plus, If and when DD leaves, Having the next HC in house will make for a much easier transition. Recruits will be happy too because PJ will be a known commodity

Am I the only one who thinks its a bit premature to talk about CIW? Also Petersen and Patterson had zero ties to their schools prior to their hiring as coordinators.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about Doeren not Fleck, but no I don't think it's premature. Ill be very surprised if Doeren is still here in 2014. Would not be surprised if PJ was HC in 2013 at all.

perhaps it is just me, but I'd like to see how fleck does running an offense before we start talking HC.

Look at it this way, P.J. took less money to be the OC here. It's not hard to figure out what he is thinking.

And I have no reason to believe he won't be a successful OC.
