For The New Mexico, the crowd must have been dressed in concrete and aluminum. I watched that game and didn't see a full stadium?

It wasn't full. There was 30k, in a stadium that holds 40k. (And they probably dont count butts in seats, but it still makes us look better03-wink )

And the MAC had 4 of the top 6 combining the belt and MAC in attendance. We've got 13 teams, and we have the 5 worst attendances too but who cares. Those teams aren't in bowls. And the LCB attendance is outstanding. (more people watch bowl games than watch EMU,Buffalo,Kent,Ball State, and Akron at home)

FIU had a great crowd for their instate game...03-lmfao

2 "local" teams
One of them in an AQ conference (same team that was involved in the best attended LCB game)
Meeting in a major city in the heart of that AQ conference

77% capacity

Who cares. At least the MAC team sold 20k tickets. FIU should have easily done that. It was about the same distance as FIU had to travel. It is the MAC's only game in the region. Give me a break. The SBC has 3 home games.

A 4 hour drive is a home game? I agree with you that our turnout was pretty pathetic but it was 4 hours away so I wouldnt call it a home game.

Heck, Purdue is only about 10 miles further to Detroit, than FIU is to St. Pete. I think MT vs. Central Michigan had a bigger attendance in 2006 Motor City Bowl.

RE: Little Caesars bowl crowd
You guys know me. I like to look at numbers and do some analysis....boring I know!!

Little Caeser's Bowl: WMU is 139 miles away and has 25,000 students. Purdue is 281 miles away and has 39,600 students. A Big 10 team that travels well. Isn't that why these bowls pick the teams from an AQ conference? Attendance: 46,177

New Orleans Bowl: ULL is 136 miles away and has 16,300 students. San Diego St is 1813 miles away and has 33,790 students. Attendance: 42,841

Bigger named opponent, from a larger conference, with a larger attendance, and over 8 times closer. Playing in a city that has only 1 bowl game. Cajuns played a lesser known school from a weaker conference (MWC vs Big Ten) that was over 1800 miles away and playing in a city that has 3 bowl games (New Orleans, Sugar and the BCS championship).

Ya'll can make up your minds which school did better.....for my money, it was those Cayenne Pepper folks!! 04-cheers

All SBC Bowls are geographically closer by a ton. OU and Utah St. weren't far to Boise Idaho tho... And same with Wyoming and Temple to New Mexico..... oh wait? Yeah, what is the total milage for the 3 SBC teams to travel, then average that, and take the average of what the 5 MAC teams have to travel.... And who still has higher bowl attendence. This should be interesting.

Last I checked Jonesboro is still a heck of a lot closer than Dekalb Illionois. It's who is closer. It's still a regional bowl game.

Oh.... See, I thought this thread was about the "Little Caesars bowl crowd" (ya know, the title of the thread that you started) NOT about the collection of crappy locales that the MAC is associated with during bowl season.

LCB was more of a regional bowl (your made-up term, your made-up definition) than the NOB was.

(PS: LCB attendance was still pretty darn close to the # when MT was in it. That's 2 "regional" teams this year drawing as much as 1 "regional" team vs MT.)

^ This. Yeah, MTSU vs CMU had 54,113 in attendance... but Purdue vs WMU had 46,117.

And everyone seems to forget that FIU is such a young team. In which year did they field their first team ever ? field their first 1A team ?

Their fanbase will grow over time, esp. with that huge student body.

Some of the MAC teams have probably been in the MAC longer than FIU has been a university.
