I would say that instead of sending our money and agents into So and Central America, maybe we should take that money and put it on the border and prevent this stuff from coming here.

Yes..and build bigger fences. Much more cost effective than elimination of the black market caused by prohibition.

I just don't see why we can't build a big wall like they did in A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). That would solve everything.

Ron Paul is the best man for the job. Getting rid of all the government baggage would do this country some good. Bring our troops home would be a great move. Everyone is scared of change, they are being mislead by those whose goal it was to over throw the governments of the middle east-paul wolfiwitz, Dick cheney, billy crystol, and so on. The one thing that Obama did right was to end the war in Iraq.

Yeah 'cause getting rid of the EPA, USDA, FDA etc will allow us to have cleaner air to breathe, safer food and drugs because the market will make corporations more accountable for their actions. 03-lmfao

This country is too chicken sh!t for REAL change.

Indeed, looking at it from the general public's point of view, the words "end" and "eliminate" are too purist and absolute for many mainstream voters to get behind. Words like "reduce" or "reform" would be far more approachable to the masses. Especially when it comes to 1, 3 and 4.

Therefore, those who identify themselves as libertarian will have to choose between a watered down/compromised version of their beliefs and have a much stronger chance of an elected President - or - adhere fully to their complete principles yet always be huge underdogs in big-time elections (a la the LP candidates). Not saying either is right or wrong, just outlining the conundrum.

I think this is a good question. How will legalizing marijuana stop the drug war or drug violence? People that are high don't rob banks or shoot people...people who want more cocaine/crack/heroin...ETC do. I agree that marijuana should be legalized and regulated but to assume that will end the war on drugs is naive.

We already have evidence that ending prohibitions end violent black market activity. Ill let our own experience with alcohol speak for itself.

I would not at this point legalize any substance but cannabis. Just doing that would decrease the vast majority of the problems and allow law enforcement to concentrate on dangerous substances. We are far from ready for total decriminalization of all substances, but it is undeniable that prohibitions cause dangerous black markets because of the risk involved of bring the product to the consumer. Removal of that risk brings the product into the legitimate marketplace where businessmen assume the risk without violence.

Respectfully I disagree. Pot isn't the problem. Legalizing Pot will do little to reduce the crime rate associated with illegal drugs.
