Mike Dinunno
Just want to piont this out. Mike 62% from the free throw line last year played for niu (I know he sat out a year) This year 95%. 16/17 I know it early but tell me Patton program did not effect the player self-esteem. Nixon first game with real playing time. 14 min and 11 pionts. Lee Fisher is the best player on Chi St. (I no they are not good) but leads in mins and scoring 12 pionts a game.

He did shoot a ton of airballs.

But i'd still take him over our current point guards.

RE: Mike Dinunno
I certainly don't wish them anything but success. I think they both did their best while at NIU.

I think Dinunno did a lot that was worthy of criticism as a player, but he wasn't THE reason we struggled or anything like that.

I don't know, I don't harbor a lot of resentment about the failure of the program recently. Maybe it's how I'm wired. If I was going to be really mad at anybody, it'd be Ricardo Patton. The players weren't perfect, but they tried and didn't humiliate the school by doing anything really stupid on or off the court.

It was clear when he was here, he had loads of talent. It is good in the right setting with some talent around him, and a coach whose head is not up his behind, that talent is coming to the surface. Kudos to DiNunno.

Also coming to surface Fisher Nixon Storm. That where I wanted this post to go. IF DiNunno and Fisher are getting better. Storm and Nixon are getting better wait until they get that first win. Then a few more games. End of the year. All next year for Nixon. I cant wait to be at the convo on Sat.

He still can't shoot. He's shooting 33% from the field and 26% from three, yet he continues to jack shots like crazy (10 per game).

His experience would probably help quite a bit, though, on a team as young as NIU.

Dinunno is not having a good year! Field goal% is 329 (23-70), 3pt% is 256 (10-39) and he is avg 11 pts a game. I am pretty sure he averaged that at Niu. He is shooting 957% from the free-throw line but I am sure that will come down. Dinunno is averaging 30 min a game. Patton gave Dinunno every chance in the world to do well. Patton kept playing him despite his terrible shooting.

RE: Mike Dinunno
Not only was he bad, he had a horrible attitude, committing petty fouls out of frustration regularly that hurt the team. He was immature with a bad temper. The fact he couldn't shoot certainly didn't help either.

That all being said, I'm sure a decent coach could have at least figured out a way to work on the emotional part of the game. You can't make him 6'3, but a good coach could have helped him with his focus and temper. Patton failed him in that aspect.

Not only is he awful, but he also takes A TON of shots. It's not like he is a guy who can't shoot who shoots very little, he's a guy who can't shoot who shoots a ton. He's a serious drain on anyone's offense.

I'd throw that in the bad coaching category too.. I don't know how a coach has never got through to the kid. He just makes a lot of bad decisions on the court.

That's better than our current point guards

Antone Christian - .184 FG% and .211 3pt%
Zach Miller - .333 FG% and .250 3pt%
