Every year we get picked in the 5-7 range and every we finish in the top 3. When will they learn?

Quote:12. East Carolina: The Pirates lost most of their top players from last season, and they weren't very good last season -- just 8-8 in the league. That's not a good recipe for success. That's why there won't be much success at ECU.
Well, that was a very well thought out and thoroughly researched preview.

I see it as just about right. If Dobson becomes eligible to play in January, we could move up to 6th.

I don't see ECU finishing in the Top 6. I think there are other teams clearly better. I think they'll be competitive, but not better than last year. I'm expecting SJ to copy and paste soon
Memphis should wind up as a 2-5 seen in the tourney, could see Marshall grabbing an 8/9 seed, and could see UAB/UCF sneaking in too. Very excited about this season.
Have you heard of the transfers we have? Our best player last year was sitting out due to Transfer rules

Glad they spent hours on that one. I wonder if they even could tell you the names of the top players we lost off last years team?

Are you kidding? I've been listening to Still Jonesing talk these guys up for the last year and a half! On paper, you guys shouldn't be a preseason top half CUSA team. Most people agree with that too. If your team is as good as ECU fans think they'll prove it on the court.

Lebo and the players all last year said Paul was the best player on the team. It's not the fans

Agreed but our basketball fanbase is buzzing about this years team so it's not us blowing smoke. We have a legit NCAA/NIT team just not a favorable schedule to get there without winning CUSA

I think there is a little hyperbole here. I think we have a legit possibility of 20 wins. I think this team is going to be a good bit better than the one that won 18 last year.

Not doubting that, but Mike Davis also once said that Robert Vaden would be CUSA's best player the second he stepped on the court lol

I don't understand why they pick us to finish last. I actually think that we can finish in the top 6 and can take at least one from Marshall, USM, UCF, and UAB. If we can get Minges full we can beat anyone and I've seen us do it against heavily favored teams.

RE: CBS 2011-2012 CUSA Basketball Preview
I've lost a lot of respect for cbs. The UAB fansite had a better preview than the crap they paid for. I think most of these websites have zero clue about the 4 transfers but that's still unexcusable when we return 3 starters and our best player from a team that went 10-9 in CUSA play against the toughest schedule. Knowing that alone it would take a moron to rate Tulane or UTEP on paper above us if you really did the research.

Going that route rarely nets results equal to your talent. I'm not making any predictions, but counting on transfers is usually about as effective as counting on freshmen.

As an ECU fan...I'm optimistic...but I dont expect us to finish top 3 or 4 in the league...I'd be happy with league results similar to last year which would be right around middle of the league. I hope Miguel Paul is as good at the point as we all hope he will be.
Oh...and I'd like to sweep UCF again...3-0 against UCF should be expected!

Signed Elliot Williams, who just about single handily kept you from sitting home one postseason. The Transfer from New Orleans played a big role on your team last year when your super star freshman were struggling. Why?, because he was experienced. Look at UAB, they have some transfer every year Davis has brought in virtually last minute to save the season, and they normally do. Vaden (indiana), J. Sanders (MEAC school), E. Milsap (ULL) and probably a half a dozen other players that played as well.
I'd say there is a lot of good history going the transfers route in this league even from our most successful teams, not always BCS transfers as well. UAB has really kept their program afloat and moving foward with them, sometimes adding them in the Summer. The guy ECU guys he was talking about played double digit minutes on an Elite 8 Missiouri team and he's been here practicing with the team a year. If you don't think this guy is talented or at least more experienced and ready to play than the majority of newcomers in this league I don't know what to say to you.
He wasn't a scrub that never played and he should be's ready to step in from day one. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that on paper or the fact we return 3 starters and have 3 other experienced transfers as well several of which have already been practicing with the team. The people picking us from 9th-12th really have done zero homework on ECU or this league and what we had to face to get 10 league wins last year playing in the east and playing UAB, Memphis, and UCF in the tourny, and I think most logical posters on this board would even agree with that.
