Well at least our 4100 was for a night mid-week game in the cold pouring rain. But dang they are playing in front of hundreds in beautiful weather.

You pirates fans are funny, butts in the seats is not even a factor...

SMU's Market, both from TV and a recruiting perspective...

SMU's huge athletic budget and endowment....

Money drives the bus...its not how many hot dogs you can sell to the fans. If attendance drove things, ECU would be being considered instead of SMU.

Although I agree to certain extent, there has to be a correlation between butts in the seats and sets tuned in. SMU does have one of the best good ole boy networks I have seen, but not to sure about the pull in the Dallas market -vs- UT, ATM, TTech or OK.

Let 'em vent Pony fans... it's expected... y'all had an opportunity to prove something, but at least you're proving it on the field if not in the stands.

Keep that up and everything else will take care of itself.

The point is, Dallas would be dialed in to the Big East...there are plenty of Big East alums here, plus it opens up recruiting to the Big East in Dallas....To win you have to be able to recruit Texas and Florida.

Big TV market might get you in the worst AQ BCS Conference out there that is currently on Death Row but sooner or later if you want to be considered big time you need to put some butts in the seats of that beautiful stadium on a beautiful day. Other then that Go SMU 04-cheers Beat UCF 04-chairshot

Yes there are Big East Alum's, a lot in the Austin area, but as has been stated before Texas and OK (and to a lessor extent LSU and OK State) take the top elite recruits from Texas, with ATM and TTech basically getting the remainder. Don't see a kid from South Lake, Lufkin, etc... packing to go play to UConn.

Not sure how Texas will embrace a game with Rutgers but guess we will see.

Yeah, because our back to back conference championships only less than two years ago wasn't considered proving it on the field. 03-melodramatic
