RE: Latest on AM
Texas and Notre dame are two teams that the BigTen would take in a heart beat. The problem was that Texas was saddled with AM and more importantly Tech and TT was a deal breaker for BigTen

RE: Latest on AM
It would be great if Texas and ND joined the B10, just leaves them two more spots to 16 and I think they got Ga. Tech in their sights. With AM independent, expect the SEC to expand in 2012 (That is if the world is still here). I honestly think they are all waiting for the BE's TV deal to know if the fourth superconference is set or not. Then the rush is on for the 64 top college teams.

The BE only has to fear a raid by the B10 (before the deal- Though Rutgers will jump anytime. They figure if they are going to lose they may as well lose in the B10- more respectable losses). If Texas goes to the B10 the SEC and B10 will be very tough. Paying players will be the only hope the BE has of being competitive. We need the money. We should be the top choice for the SEC leftovers in the south. We can only hope they have a chip.
USF (and UCf) should pick up some good talent.

I hear a few Miami recruits are on the market for a new team in south Florida.

Texas may join the B1G, but they can forget ND. The Irish would have joined long ago, if they had any such inkling...

This question has been asked before. Are the Aggies the stalking horse for UT? A & M leaves the Big 12 which gives UT the political cover to leave the Big 12 as well? Another question. Will the Big 10 schools hold their noses and take Texas Tech to get Texas?

If the BE got AM, KU, Mizzou, BC, and Marland that would be simply amazing.

No. Texas A&M would never come to the Big East. Frankly, best case scenario is that somehow the SEC expansion doesn't cause the Big East to lose a team; the 9 team B12 whiffs on BYU, or loses Missouri to the SEC along with Texas A&M and Fox adjusts their deal accordingly. That should result in a significant pay reduction for teams not named Oklahoma or Texas and may give Kansas & some other schools the incentive to shove off.

If Texas leaves it will be a race to not be the school to "turn off the lights".

As long as Texas has the Longhorn Network, I don't see them going to the Big 10. I would say that about the Pac-12 as well, but I think if it came right down to it, the P12 would make concessions for Texas' network and allow them to keep it if they agreed to join.

Nice find. Writer fails to explain why BYU wouldn't be interested in a BIG 12 invite. Seems more hot air than anything else, and I hope so. I like Pitt in the Big East with all of us.

Pitt and Big 12 Rumor

I can't speak for Pitt or any other Big East program, but I can't see any interest on the part of Pitt. Maybe I am wrong.

I am not advocating this, as I like the Big East and its line up, but if the Big 12 were going to make a play for Big East schools, they should do it to where it makes sense. If A&M leaves for the SEC, that means the SEC is going to at least 14 schools and if the B12 wants to remain a player, they need to do so as well.

Take Pitt & WVU so you are adding a rivalry game and two legacy-type programs, plus you are gaining the Pittsburgh market and the entire state of WV, and both are strong basketball schools. Then add Louisville and Cincinnati - another decent rivalry with a history. Two top 50 TV markets and two strong basketball programs. Then see about adding BYU for their national religious following. Their TV channel shouldn't be an issue since Texas has one and Oklahoma is planning one. That would get the B12 to 14 schools like the SEC.

Then the ACC could add Syracuse, UConn, Rutgers and USF (assuming the SEC takes an ACC team as their 14th).

The P12 could then add TCU and Nevada. Then everyone will be happy.

But as I said, I would rather the Big East stay together and add some teams.

That's it! You screwballs leave us, the rest of us are all headed to the PAC XXX. Not only will we wrap up the East Coast markets, but we'll add in the West Coast markets. Expand TV rights to Asia and Europe. $$$$ is then limitless. Besides the PAC XXX can also absorb our basketball schools and merge in the legendary UCLA - WHAT A CONFERENCE. Dick Vitale would be happy out of his tree!

Syracuse will establish new rivalries with USC and TCU.

UConn will have the obvious rivalry with the UW Huskies, they can plafor the Klondike Award, or something.

Louisville's rivalry will be with with Stanford, in which they will play for teh Birdhouse Trophy.

South Florida can establish their new rivalry with both of the Arizona schools and start a three way trophy, called the Sunshine Award.

Cincy will take on UCLA Bearcats v. Bruins, the trophy will be of half bear and half wildcat. You can make this a three way rivaly if you include the Arizona Wildcats.

TCU will pick up a new rivalry with Syracuse and USC. The three private schools will play for the private trophy, a gold plated, Irish crystal dollar sign, delivered by a diamond studded red Ferrari. We can include Stanford in a four way trophy race, too.

O.K., back to reality.

We don't need the Big XII. We can invite several major colleges in China. That's east, albeit the far east. But WVU is already very popular there...

Assume A&M to SEC by Thursday, how long does roller coaster last?
1) Move very quickly, ignoring conference deadlines (deal with it later..)
2) Does it last a bit longer like this winter
or
3) Does it drag out till next summer/fall (for Big East patient schools) to finally sort all of this out?
