RE: How's This For Arrogance ?
Here is a post on La Tech's board regarding Tulane...

Quote:To me, I'm more concerned about the fact that Tulane feels threatened by us to such an extent that they will not play us.

This should tell us all we need to know about where they stand on us concerning a CUSA invite. if they feel threatened by playing us, they must REALLY feel threatened by the possiblity of playing in the same conference as us.While Bruce's comment didn't help our cause, Tulane's position on scheduling us is much more damning.

So the reason Tech won't schedule ULM is due to their "separation", but Tulane won't schedule Tech because they are scared to play???

There's too many schools in Louisiana. If the SBC schools banded together, they could starve Tech out, it would only help ULL and ULM.....as well as anyone that recruits Louisiana. Stop scheduling them and giving them financial life. It would take a few years, but it could happen.

that sounds like ethopian thinking......you can out starve the other guy

ignore that you yourself have a large bag of mostly nothing

you are at the bottom of the pecking order in most measures "support" related

and that the guys you are trying to out starve have been doing as well or better than you in the "trying not to starve part of the contest" and in the "support" part of the contest

there are soon to be 12 D1-A programs in Texas....LaTech will be playing 2.....and I would not say that any of the remaining would be all that difficult for LaTech to schedule......besides the one plays in the belt

3 Teams in OK and none in the belt

2 in Arkansas one in the belt

3 in Mississippi none in the belt

so LaTech is not hurting for places, games, or teams to play that are very close by or not that hard to get to

only UTEP and Texas Tech would be out of the question for a bus ride and those can be a bus ride to Love Field in Dallas and a short flight away

I see none of the Big 12, SEC, or CUSA having an issue scheduling LaTech and I think if you ask most of the fan bases they would find a buy in game with LaTech or a 2-1 as preferable to ULM (especially Alabama 03-lmfao) or Louisiana

I think if it was done even a 1-1 with LaTech would be the choice over ULM or Louisiana

I don't see the starve them plan working

RE: How's This For Arrogance ?
I think at some point a president should demand some dignity in the approach the athletic director takes.

If you don't sell beer to kids someone else is going to do it, so it might as well be me.

We don't carry a lot of clout in the world but I think there is an essential failing in place in how we schedule as a league. La.Tech has been publicly trashed this league so let's hurry up and schedule them.
There is something wrong when Arkansas State will schedule Alabama and Auburn knowing their stance on Troy and an equally sad problem when Troy will schedule Arkansas knowing their scheduling practices. Florida State has yet to schedule FIU or FAU and no Sun Belt should play them either.

Will it force anyone of them to change their ways? Probably not but at least it can drive up their cost of doing business while we actually stand for something.

Wow. Our AD answers a direct question on a radio interview. A local sports writer takes that answer and writes an opinion piece and now it is a hot topic of conversation on the Belt board.

Amazing how much influence and clout Tech has.

"After what we did for them following the hurricane ... that one really hurt," Van De Velde told the paper. "We have really been trying to get them to play us."

Not much to stray from in writing an "opinion piece." Your fans haven't taken it as an opinion piece. As far as it being a hot topic on the belt board, perhaps you should go back to BB&B and read the posts on the ULM/Tulane game and then read the posts on the ULL/Tech game. First ya'll rant and rave about about Tulane screwing you over by scheduling ULM and then you start talking about the "bottom feeding cupcake" of ULL. Somehow in the delusional thinking of Tech fans, being at the top of a scraped together conference is going to make you the next big thing in college football. It is amazing to me how ya'll can talk about your future schedule and ridicule your current conference mates by referring to them as the bottom feeders, as if you are among the elite of the WAC (is that an oxymoron?), while Tech is a middle to bottom team in that conference (please do check your conference standings over the past 5-10 years). The only reason you are middle of the pack is because of 3 former SBC teams who were bottom of the pack in a significantly weaker SBC. If you think money and conference invites are headed your way then keep passing around whatever it is you are smoking or drinking.

It's not about the "influence and clout" of Tech, but rather how childish your AD's response was when you got one-upped by ULM (a Belt team) in scoring a home-home with Tulane.03-melodramatic

So, you put up their football team in a condemned dorm then expect them to schedule you but when they don't you pitch a public hissy fit?! Way to stay classy!!!

Now, not sure what the status of Tech's futures schedules were when Tulane and ULM signed their deal for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but looking at Tech's future schedules, I see 6 OOC games for 2012, 5 OOC games for 2013 and 5 for 2014, only one of which was just recently added. Throw in the status of the WAC, the uncertain future of said conference, and the commitments that Tulane already had and methinks the Tech AD doth protest too much!!

Make it four, Tulane and McNeese State played home games in Lafayette at the Cajuns stadium. They refused to play us in football as well. They are an ungratefull bunch. Having said that, it is the height of hypocrisy for Tech to complain about what they have done to UL and ULM over the past decade.

I in no way feel that TULANE is obligated to play us. A lot of the complaining is based on the fact Tulane has made excuses not to play us for years by saying they couldn't find room in their schedule . Then we wake up one morning and they have put ULM on their schedule. That was a slap in the face. For an our AD to say what he did was tactless, but who AD hasn't said something completly stupid. I know their is a lot of hatred for Tech on most boards, but most of us aren't that bad. Its just the bad ones are louder and more anoying.

This is why I laughed at the idea that Tech fans floated around after housing Tulane athletes that their administration would support you guys for a CUSA membership. How is that in their best interest? They have a competitive advantage playing in CUSA over Tech, why would they want to help your program? It's very similar to what Tech had in the WAC over UL or ULM.

As for Tech's AD, Rip Van Winkle....he is a clown and suffers from constant foot and mouth desease.04-rock

I dont know what ULM ever did to Tech. But apparently they offended them deeply one day. Ive never seen one school so obsessed with making sure the other falls off the face of the earth

Well scratch that....Arkansas tried it with ASU

It's not really like ASU and the pigs. ULM and Loser Tech are very similar athletically...and they are about 30 miles from each other. They're almost 'cross town rivals'.

Tulane played a game in UL's stadium, LSU's stadium and a couple of other stadiums. La Tech, SMU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech "took our teams in." (the ones that weren't disbanded).

Yeah, we're similar athletically except ULM has never had a winning FBS season. The reasons Tech does not like ULM have been discussed ad nauseum on this forum so I won't...

BTW what the hell is Arkansas State? Cleo Lemon is your most famous alumni.

Cleo's not our most famous alumni, but he can still count to 10 accurately.
