I understand the ULM complaint. I suspect that the school wishes they had it to do over in designing Malone. The east side seating is a reasonabl design limited by what the school spent.

As far as Cajun Field goes. The sight lines are good, concessions flow reasonably well, very good tailgate atmosphere. Bathrooms, let's just say I was shocked to see a school have worse facilities than ASU in that department and we've got problems because we tend to draw more fans in September and October than they were designed to accomodate.

Lockhart deserves to be on there, and I wouldnt of bitched if it had been #1

Well have to wait to see what the crowds are like for our new digs. It will be very nice and state of the art, but I doubt it will be filled every game.

if this was last year fine, I'd even put FAU at #1... but the title says worst Stadiums of 2011 and we ARE NOT even playing at lockhart, yes our attendance is low, but being a new stadium on campus it is for sure to go up.... I may be biased but BS in my book!

The Bleacher Report's articles are written by fans, so don't take it too seriously.

ULM has a really nice setup in their pressbox club level. Wish MT had something like that. The first few rows of the second level (home side) offer an incredible view of the game.

The MAC is in serious trouble it seems. I am not too concerned about the Belt because I see improvement coming with the new venues and improvement in the league overall.

RE: So..is Bleacher Report legit or not?
The article is actually titled wrong. It was about having a home field advantage which doesn't necessarily go hand and hand with a "football stadium experience". I understand Tulane for example, a large cavernous stadium not on campus were you don't really get the feel of a true college environment.
There could be teams that draw well but have dated facilities and poor concessions or seating and not have a true college environment. WKU for example, since I know the area the best, has a beautiful campus and a nice stadium that is in the heart of the campus and I am sure some of the other SBC locations are the same. Now we didn't do well with crowds for sundry reasons but it is not because of facilities. The SBC has a lot of potential to improve more so than the MAC I think. 04-rock

Would love to see how this guy's alma mater is doing and see if we could find some problems with his school.

USC is added because "gasp, they only drew 80,000 a game" and UCLA is there because they drew slightly less. Then throw in a bunch of small schools and slam them for attendance because they have down years, small venues, and small populations (student and area).

This is why I hate the time between the last kick off of the season and the first one of the new season.

And dang it, I am going to do something that is really gonna hurt...and you don't know how bad....but the Cajun fans do show up even if they are having a bad season, so I will give them that.....jerk writer!!

Ok, I will get my @ss back to work.

If it's just home field advantage let's look at home record. Let's look at record at home in games favored to win in the power ratings vs. games favored to lose.

The college experience is in the eye of the beholder. I like going to Monroe until I step into Malone, the experience around the stadium is pretty nice. I hated games at Fouts but loved going there because the GMG crowd was great.

If ASU is playing an early season game and the winds are out of the south I like to go into the stadium the back way on Johnson because I get a kick out of seeing tailgate smoke dropping visibility on Johnson to a few feet.

Actually, we like Malone Stadium and we got it at a time when it was lots cheaper to build stadiums and arenas. It was finished in 1978 (angular architecture was popular then) and funding was pulled so the stadium couldn't be completed as it was originally planned. It sits as high as it does because the water table is 3 feet below the playing surface so no in-ground bowl design, such as what ULL has, was possible. Sure, we do wish the east side stands were more than erector-set-style construction but it is what it is and I trust sitting there more than I ever would the expanded tinker-toy seating they installed at LaTech....

This season we'll have that new video board in the south end zone and next year construction will begin on a field house on the opposite north end. Bleacher Report's critique was more about the fans than it was about the stadium. And I'll have to agree with them on that. Some want to see a winner before they'll show up and brag about how they were always fans.

I love that their knock on FIU is our expansion to 45,000 seats. An expansion that is no where near in the works. That expansion may be over a decade away, if necessary.

The west side is HIGH, though that gets to be nice in blocking the sun :)
