That makes me feel like my First Amendment rights mean nothing.

I think we need an "Official Post Game Thread" so everyone can get it all out in one place instead of starting 1000 different threads saying the same thing.

But posting on a message board has nothing to do with the first amendment.

The first amendment would apply if the government tried to stop you from establishing a message board where you could ***** or cheer or both or "say" anything you want...and even then some "speech" is subject to intervention.

With that- message boards would be boring if there was nothing but we are great posts- which is not the case here- or we suck posts- which is not the case here.

Most that are not quitting on Pastner etc...are not arguing this has been a good year or that the team has not underperformed based on general preseason (with Spoon, Kendrick and Garcia) expectations. In fact hardly anyone has continued to argue this team is great in any way.

Similarly- those disappointed and unable to prevent that from becoming mocking derisive insulting hate on what you profess to like- are still fans of Memphis and want our kids to do well. Some have fun tweaking other posters (that's entertainment), some truly allow the performance of a college team to affect their moods- others like to moan period when things fall short.

I guess it is interesting to read post after post mocking our team and our kids...for some it is. Unfortunately that masks the constructive criticism which tries to make its way through.

I imagine many of the angry shaking their fists at some posters- and thinking about it- obsessed with this website- looking for some place to snark, be witty, bash fans and the like.

Now THAT is entertainment.

They don't. It's a site owned by an individual. The First Amendment says that CONGRESS shall make no laws interfering with the freedoms that the First Amendment protects. Neither Memphis Roar nor any of their mods are Congress. It's a private message board. Hence, the owner of the message board is within rights to set rules on speech.

The bill of rights is to protect the people from the government. Thanks for that reminder Brooks. Most people are unaware of that!

nope, it's a place where (for the most part) people have civil discussions about our program. Something that almost never happens over here.
