Will college teams move games to Sun?

Did this happen in past years?

Is the MAC prepared to do this? Seems to me that the MAC is mighty close to several NFL stadiums...venues that would love to have some activity during autumn Sundays.

Is there a reason this couldn't happen? Are MAC officials making efforts to take advantage of this?

I will be happy, that's what will happen.

On so many levels it is a bad idea to move/reschedule any game for the 2011 season to play in an NFL stadium or on Sunday.
There is no benefit to having any currently scheduled games moved to an NFL stadium (that are not currently in one) this close to the season. This would be a logistical nightmare.

MAC games will not be moved to Sunday. This would mess up the entire season of scheduling for the host team, their opponent and their opponents opponent.

Why would you want to see a 75% empty NFL stadium playing a conference game?
It is going to be embarrassing enough seeing the half filled stadium from the Ball St Indiana game at Indy this year. They "hope" for ticket sales of 40K. That means they hope for 30k or so in attendance with 10k of the tickets being purchased by a sponsor.

i agree. in my opinion under no circumstance should a mac team play a game in an nfl stadium unless attendance would be at a minimum about 20k more than what their stadium holds. not counting temple in this

So even supposing the networks want to fill those prime Sunday afternoons with college football, someone thinks they are going to do this with MAC teams? Really? Oh, the nation's heart is beating fast for that!

my understanding was, Sunday, browns fans were still tailgating
MAC should have thrown in a FB game

the truth is, IF NFL does not play this yr, MAC should try to take advantage

The Ralph is owned by the county so leasing it would be no problem, so it might be something our AD looks into. Getting concessions open for a UB game might not be an issue either...the owner of the stadium's concessionaire is Jeremy Jacobs, Chairman of the UB Council (and Boston Bruins owner).

UB and the Bills have a close relationship so I don't think their management would make a stink. We borrow their fieldhouse for certain practices, our pro-day is held there, and our coaches talk to their's (for better or worse). The Bill's website runs stories on UB player performance at the combine, like they did today for Josh Thomas before he auditioned.

It would stink for a lot of students, but it might make up for it with Bills fans in withdrawl, because of four little letters:

B-E-E-R

Excluding our stadium club, UB Stadium does not serve, so many Bills fans not connected to UB could care less. They live for the parties Sunday mornings in OP. There are often 15-20K extra fans tailgating who have no intention of walking into RWS. If UB started advertizing "Buffalo hosting Miami, 1 pm Sun.!", with $20-$35 tickets, all tailgate lots open, and all concessions open, enough Bills fans might think "Miami? Hate!!! Beer outside? I'm there!!!". Too bad we go to Oxford this year, though.

There may be specific circumstances where a MAC vs B10, Academy, BigEast game could be workable. The terms would have to be favorable and it must be televised. More likely would be non MAC games move to Sunday freeing up more TV slots on other days for MAC games.

I really can't see moving games into NFL stadiums unless there was a very special situation. Moving a couple of Saturday games to Sunday for National television might be a possibility though. Looking at Miami's home schedule, we could possibly move the UC or the Army game to Sunday afternoon if it was going to be on national tv and there was no NFL. That might make sense.

The channels that do NFL on Sundays have SEC football (CBS) or nothing in the regular season (FOX) right now. It's not like ESPN's going to have this giant opening on Sundays they need to fill. They'll show bowling like they always do. CBS and FOX affiliates will probably be told "go ahead and fill it with whatever you want and keep the ad revenue you manage to get"

I don't understand the bit about NFL stadium games, but will there be thought to move some games to Sunday?

The only problem I see is that September games are normally OOC games.

Otherwise, let the Big Ten play on Saturday and the MAC some games on Sunday.

The model might be Labor Day weekend which the NFL leaves open as some colleges exploit.

Fox will show more baseball in August & September
CBS will show more Golf, Tennis and maybe even the Polo finals in France!?!

I would think that Fox would be more likely to just pick up college football games and broadcast them on Saturday as they are already scheduled rather than paying both teams to move the game to Sunday. Its not like Saturdays from 11-6 have anything good on FOX anyways.

Dang, the Polo finals are in FRANCE this year? I thought they were in Luxembourg-now I've got to change my tickets or take the rail over - is Luxembourg in the EU? Thanks, HJ- don't know WHERE I would have ended up without this info.

Can tell you went to Kent. We were obviously talking about the European Finals. I may not go anyway as it conflicts with the Western Regional Ride and Tie Championships.

MAC has 5 BCS schools at home, 3 are in NFL stadiums, move the other 2
Conn vs buffalo & Cin vs Mia
Conn travels well & package deal with Niagra falls

MAC has 4 games with Army, come up with something
