Waldo Stadium has been a showcase for TE talant for the last, what, 15 years? These last few years, just felt wrong.
Jake Moreland 1996 - 1999. 143 career receptions - most production from a Bronco TE EVER!
Mobolaji Afariogun 1999 - 2002. I remember playing NCAA on the PS2, and forcing the ball his way all the time. STUD!
Tony Scheffler 2002 - 2005. had 117 receptions and 1,345 receiving yards with 13 touchdowns in his career. One of the most exciting moments for me as a Bronco fan was True Freshman Tim Hiller finding Scheffler for an early score at NIU (a game so big, I took the day off work). One of the saddest moments came soon after, when some NIU douchebag rolled up on Hiller's leg, SHREDDING his knee.
Branden Ledbetter 2005 - 2008. Freaking stud. 2nd team all MAC in 08. Still shocked that he didn't make it in the NFL. Finished his career with the most TDs by a tight end in program history (20) and a record three-consecutive seasons with at least six TDs. Sacrificed his body in a HUGE win over Illinois at Ford Field.
Anthony Middleton 2007 - 2008. Amazing potential. Almost biblically ended our streak of TE amazingness by getting kicked off the team. We now await the return of the Stud TE, as prophesized by Jake Moreland, the patriarch of badass WMU TE.
Of course, there may have been many more amazing TE in the annals of WMU history, but I only went back to when my awareness of my local team, and future alma mater, began.
