I don't know the deal on Kibi...
but I think his loss hurts us in conference. He was somewhat undersized against some of the bigger OOC teams we played, but I think he would have been quite effective against a number of Sun Belt teams.

The thing that I don't get about his situation is how he can be ineligible for the spring semester. The one year wonders that Calipari uses at Kentucky don't even make a pretense trying to pass their courses because no matter how bad you do in the fall semester, the worse that happens is that you are on academic probation for the spring semester. Since those guys have no intention of actually being in college to get a degree, they don't care and completely quit going to classes after the season is completed to concentrate on NBA camps, etc. So, how can Kibi be academically ineligible for the spring? Is it some sort of University rule?

That's the point I 've been making to folks. How can he be ineligible after just one semester? I've been thinking of the same example you provided. Maybe it is different for a Juco and a freshman. Never heard of a freshman being ineligible after just one semester in college.

Maybe Kibi is on probation or suspension for failing to attend classes. It seems to matter to him as he is still with the team though not in uniform. I assume that's him sitting on the bench in the tan warm-ups.

You teach out there. Maybe you can find out what the rule is, if that's even the problem. It can't be a problem with his transcript because he's from Canada, as someone suggested. He's already graduated from a juco, which should have overriden anything of that sort.

Not sure where I got all my info (either from Jeff's blog or Matt Harris in the paper), but it reportedly was academic although the NCAA was somehow also involved in evaluating his eligibility. I or someone else will ask Steve at the Luncheon on Tuesday.
