its a shame what happened tonite, the kids didn't execute and your offensive coordinator sux wind..
i think stew is done, he screwed up in the past by not surrounding himself with good people and he hasn't learned from it, clearly not the brightest bulb on the strip

Stewart always seems to have a befuddled/exasperated look on his face. Yeah i know, he still beat USF a few times. But still ...
Got to ask WHY didn't WVU just go ahead and remove Stewart this year so Holgorsen can step in next year with out worries of a lame duck season by Stewart??? I really think this will hurt more than it will help IMO for if the change is needed go ahead and do it so the new regime can get things implemented now instead of a year from now.

I have similar thoughts. When the 2011 arrangement was announced I thought it was poison. In September we'll see if they continue the look of tonight.

I doubt it. I think all the kids want to do is win. Stewart is just never going to get them over the hump.

Last night was as pathetic a display as I've seen in a long time. The offense was anemic and timid - - and all those turnovers! Anybody watching that game will understand why a change was necessary in Morganton.

I concur! Keeping Stewart next year is a wasted year!

As I said in another thread...

I have no problem with Stew remaining for one more year. Holgorsen will be running things offensively, without Stew's interference. Keeping Stew in charge kept WVU's recruiting class intact, which Pitt was unable to do when Wanny got the axe. And hiring Holgorsen as WVU's OC and head coach in waiting has made several high profile recruits sit up and take notice too. IMO this makes the entire transition far smoother than it would be if Stew was canned...
There was nothing about upsetting apple carts, or any other ridiculous idea, influencing his decision. Luck is smart. But he's also a decent human being, and Stew is dedicated to the State of West Virginia and WVU. You have to reward that kind of loyalty. It's very hard to find today...
So I see no real problem. What's with all the fuss?

Holgorsen may also hire Arizona's OL Coach Bill Bedenbaugh. His name has been linked to the WVU OL coaching job more than once. So this game could be a preview for Mountaineer fans in more ways than one...
As a big east fan i really hope Stew just steps down during the offseason. You guys need to get this thing turned around, WVU is our flagship football program, we cant have them performing like they have been under stew

The Mountaineer D shouldn't drop off much next season. Incoming juco transfer Shaq Rowell will take Chris Neild's NT spot (THE crucial position that makes the 3-3-5 work), and another juco transfer Josh Francis will most likely fill J.T. Thomas' LB position. WVU has enough talent on the bench, and coming in, to fill all the holes on the defense created by graduations. It probably won't be as good as this year's D. But I don't think the D will fall in the rankings much nationally...
As for the offense, I don't know if WVU will finish next season in the top 5 nationally in total offense, like the rest of Holgorsen's teams have done. But as long as Holgorsen's O is a big improvement over this year's offense, I'll be a happy man. I've got a feeling I'm going to be a happy man. We'll find out more next fall...

Flagship? Historically speaking, there are three Big East programs with some kind of pedigree - Pitt, WVU, and Syracuse. And of those three i don't think WVU's is the greatest, it's probably third.
And personally, I'd like to see WVU perform even worse, not OOC but such that we beat them every year. That's the same as i'd like to see from every Big East team.
WVU clearly is ahead of us in the Big East pecking order, and this coaching move means they are fully committed to not only keeping it that way, but extending the gap even further. USF has to buck up and respond to this kind of competitive pressure.
