NATION'S LEADING SCORER
Xavier Silas leads the country at 28.3 ppg after his 40 point outburst. If you haven't seen him this year, you are missing the real deal. This guy is not just a chucker--he is shooting at a 56% pace and is shooting at 50% from three....Shoots over 90% from the line and is playing great defense...

Great defense is a little over the top. Funny thing about the top scorers is that they usually play on bad teams like this one.

I was thinking the same thought.

It would be interesting to look back at leading scores last two decades and find how well did their teams achieve as well.

#2 scorer right now is Walker from UConn, although, I do agree with that overall thought.

Really multiplies the frustration about the coaching situation. This team doesn't have to be terrible, and could actually be ok if they had a coach. Nothing special maybe .500, but with Silas going off nightly they'd at least start stirring people up about basketball a little.

The team would probably be fine with any coach if Kowal was here and Jones was healthy. That's far more frustrating to me to be honest.

Great defense is certainly over the top.

Here are the top three scorers from the last few years and their team record

2009
1) Aubrey Coleman - Houston, 19-16, lost in first round of NCAA tournament
2) Adnan Hodzic - Lipscomb, 17-13
3) James Anderson - OK St., 22-11, lost in first round of NCAA tournament

2008
1) Stephen Curry, Davidson, 27-8, lost in the second round of the NIT tournament
2) Lester Hudson, Tenn-Martin, 22-10, lost in first round of NIT tournament
3) Jermaine Taylor, UCF, 17-14

RE: NATION'S LEADING SCORER
Do we see a pattern here?

Maybe a chicken or egg first kinda circumstance with having a leading scorer and having a good team...

Did teams above have a winning season and/or make the ncaa tournament on back of a leading scorer and was a team eliminated early when leading scorer was shut down...?...

When @ RBHS in early 1960's the Bulldogs has a gunslinger who won conf scoring title and we finished dead last in standings...it's probably more common in HS than college ball

RE: NATION'S LEADING SCORER
I'm a fan of X but NBA...not so sure.

A plethora of All-Americans jet off to Europe, developmental leagues and lessar gyms b/c they CANT make the NBA.

He'll have to play mighty well in camps to have a shot. Yes, a shot. His frantic scoring for this sorry bunch wont do much for him when cuts are made down the road.

Let's see him make some noise v. Temple...that will help his stock.

RE: NATION'S LEADING SCORER
Northwestern's coach mentioned him as a second round draft pick, scouts have been at games. His dad was a good NBA player, he'll get a more than fair shot based on name alone. He's got the size to be a SG in the NBA, if he continues to develop his outside shot, I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a roster spot somewhere.

RE: NATION'S LEADING SCORER
Silas will get a shot to play this coming fall in the NBA. I am not sure he will get drafted, but anything can happen in the 2nd round of the draft, all it takes is one team to be convinced he can be a good NBA player.

He has great size, good ball-handling ability, great shooting from anywhere on the court and he knows how to finish around the basket. The only thing he has going against him is that he is not the most athletic player, but he is no slouch either.

The NBA needs players with good size that can shoot.

God, I would take Silas on the Bulls right now starting over Bogans.

I mean, he can't be worse than Jannero Pargo can he? If Silas doesn't make it to the NBA and some of these bums are in the league that's just bad scouting.
