Dayton's 40 Game Non-Conference Home Win Streak
When I saw that ETSU broke their LONG non-conference home win streak, I thought...man 40 games seems like a lot of games to have in that short a time period.

Dayton's last loss was to Vanderbilt on December 30th, 2005. So they have had 41 non-conference home games since then. In that same time period, ETSU has had 16 non-conference home games. Five of those games came against non-DI teams(Wingate, Tennessee Wesleyan, North Georgia, and Milligan twice).

I always hear the argument that ETSU can't get home games because they are too tough, and teams don't want to come play in the dome. Here's the thing though...I'm thinking most if not every coach out there, would be more afraid to play at Dayton than at ETSU. I realize Dayton has the ability to pay teams to come and play them, but I'm not foolish enough to believe that Dayton has had to pay 25 teams in the last 5 years to come and play them.

So the question...how does Dayton do it, but ETSU can't?

Facilities play a big role in where people want to go play. The dome needs some help. The lockerrooms aren't all that great, and you're playing basketball on a football field. It's the same old argument, and everyone here can defend the dome to the death, and then once they're revived they can fuss about how we need a new arena or a major overhaul to the dome.

The A10 plays 16 conference games a year vs 20 for the A-Sun. I looked at the schedule, I Edit that was a tournament and Pitt won. Again looking a the schedule the last BCS team they played at home was Vandy their last loss.

Okay so the Pitt game did happen. Got confused. 2006-07 Pitt blew them out at Pitt 84-54 the next year at Dayton the Flyers returned the favor 80-55.

RE: Dayton's 40 Game Non-Conference Home Win Streak
Dayton may not be an easier place to play than ETSU but losing to Dayton doesn't carry the same stigma nationally that losing to ETSU would. When you go on the road you greatly increase your chance of losing, right now it is a lose-lose to play ETSU on the road. A win gets a team no respect, a lost gets them crucified.

That's not the case with Dayton. So why can Dayton do it while we can't? They have national respectability while we don't. Just head over to their message board, they're all on suicide watch because they lost to us.

I wasn't that impressed with that list of who Dayton got to come play them. I saw 2 teams in the 40 that are better then what ETSU could get (maybe Creighton to). ETSU has played several of those teams at one point or the other.

Sure we could get that level of team. But we get two or three per year. Dayton almost triples us in home games.

RE: Dayton's 40 Game Non-Conference Home Win Streak
While I totally agree with everyone here about how we should have more home games I will say we aren't the only ones. I looked at App States schedule tonight and they have 3 OOC home games this year against Montreat, Milligan and Robert Morris. So even App State with that nice new arena they play in can only get 1 Division one OOC game at home.

I don't know if they are in the bracketbuster this year. I didn't see anything on the schedule that indicated it but if they are that might give them an additional home game.

Again.. A10 plays 16 conference games the A-Sun plays 20 and
Dayton makes all 4 of those extra games at home. Also they draw
very well at home and make $$$$ they don't have to play
on the road in money games. This is also allows them to pad OOC
schedule with home games.

12,000 a game gives you a lot of cash to pay people. ETSU's goal ought to be sellout every game...and get the capacity back up to 12,000. The dome ought to be a crazy as the Dookie house during games. There have been moments where it has been...and those moments are fun!

Only way that can happen for the dome is more exits. I don't understand why doors can't be installed on the floor out on the ends. Sets of doors on both ends on the bottom would send all of the floor people out that way and if nothing else allow for a bigger set of bleachers on the short side of the floor. Anything to increase capacity so they could increase attendance.
