Didn't think this one would actually happen.

Wow.

Looks like things are shaping up for 6 conferences. The most prominent BCS busters are almost all accounted for.

If the Big East gets their response from Villanova, I guess that leaves Temple hanging in the wind.

I think Temple is going to be hanging in the wind regardless of what Villanova's decision is

Geez, if the MWC teams had just held it together they might have been taking the BCS auto-bid away from the Big East.

MWC could have included; TCU, Utah, BYU, Boise State, Nevada and Fresno State.

Instead, TCU, Utah and BYU leave before they can pull it together.

Temple's on the outside regardless.

If Villanova declines, an invite will be sent to UCF.

Man, you are correct.

TCU, Utah, BYU, Boise, Nevada and Fresno could have put the Big Ten to shame. 05-stirthepot

UCF fans have to be frustrated by this. They've been courted by the Big East several times now, only to be the foster child. Their chances looked great until TCU committed, now they must wait... again

Ahhh to be safe and secure in the MAC 03-cloud9 03-lmfao

I don't think that's a coincidence.

This is starting to make no sense. TCU would have had Big 12 potential in their next move.

Well, I guess even one of the most tradition-rich basketball conferences in the country will drop basketball a peg in the name of football.

Total over-reaction. The Big East did not need another WVU or Pitt to go 10-2. They needed a legitimate national title contender. Unfortunately there weren't any available.

They had to add basketball to get them, but with 17 teams, one more doesn't weaken the conference at all. The conference is as strong as its best 6-8 programs.

Plus, they are getting the Jim Christian show! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. It's a lot easier to recruit players to play in the Big East than the MWC, particularly players from east of the MIssissippi.

All comes down to the 2 M's (Money & Marketing). TCU immediately becomes the best football program in the Big East and with that comes alot of BCS $$$. And this also allows TCU exposure to the East Coast. With an enrollment of 9K i'd imagine they have growth goals in that front as well.

Waiting around for the Big 12 makes sense in geography only as they would always be 2nd fiddle to Texas, A&M, and Oklahoma.

Jim Christians job certainly got alot tougher. Probably helps his ability to recruit but that will likely take time that JC doesnt have.

Uh, being in TX, why exactly would you want to recruit from E of the Mississippi?

Why take from just Texas when you can have Texas and try to take from the East?

Because the best basketball players tend to come from the East?

And poor Boise. They can't catch a break.

That's true. For now.

TCU has been very up and down program. From 1969 to 1995, TCU's win percentage was .333. That put them at #94 out of 101 teams, and a slot below Ohio U.

Not sure why anyone would look at data prior to 1995 in making a decision...the Big East were looking to add NOW and TCU is doing well NOW (or at least consistently the past 4-5 years).

My guess is that Conf USA is about to lose some members to MWC...Houston???
