Wonder if Devon Hester will be there too?

Any chance Wolfe gives the team a pre-game pep talk?

I didn't know either until I just finished reading the Weekly Release.

God I hope not!!! I might just want to kill him for not knowing that it is preferable to run in a FORWARD direction rather than backwards or backwards & side to side.

My sons and I went to Bourbonnais to see the Bears at training camp this year. We talked to GW and told him we really missed seeing him play at NIU. He said he misses it too.

He is one of the Huskie Legends - glad to see they are honoring him.

Yea, it was worth going to the game just to watch Wolfe.

Just occurred to me...I wonder if Chester Taylor will be accompanying Wolfe to the game? They must have some sort of wager on the outcome!

I'm glad Wolfe will be there. It will add to the excitement to some degree and I'm sure the ESPN broadcast will show him getting honored and some of his NIU highlights.

"The NIU marketing department also is calling on a former Huskie.Bears running back and Huskies great Garrett Wolfe will make an appearance at Huskie Stadium to judge and announce the winner of a sign-making competition between student residence halls."

Quote:“Lucky for us, it’s Toledo in a big game," said Binegar, who added that she expects an attendance between 17,000 to 18,000.

and

"We're trying to provide an atmosphere that was similar to what we experienced," said Tim Tyrrell, former NFL player and quarterback of the 1983 NIU team. "We need to fill the stadium. That 12th man is such an adrenaline rush for the players."

I hope we have a better showing than this. I will be disappointed if < 20,000.

If we get 18K or 19K and the crowd is loud, it will still be a good atmosphere. Hopefully the cameras will concentrate on the crowded areas in the stands.

RE: Wolfe Honored tonight
Thank-you for posting this one.
Looks like the athletic department is doing some good promotional work.
I like the sign competition. Hopefully it is promoting Jake Coffman.

GW beat Toledo 35-17 in 2005(ending possibly NIU longest losing streak to a MAC team), and had he not been hit in 2004 NIU would have most likely beaten Toledo then.
GW defines courage and is possibly one of the best NIU players of the last 20 years.
What a magnificent player. I feel so grateful to have seen him in an NIU uniform.
NIU has been blessed with so many talented RB. Lashone Johnson;Hammock;Turner;Garrett Wolfe; Chadd Spann etc.
GW may have been the most exciting to watch.
A crowd favorite, who against all odds made the NIU FB team and in 3 years won the respect of NIU FB community with an incredible performance.
Arguably he has had one of the greatest lasting impacts on NIU FB.
His NIU records will stand for a long time.
My favorite NIU FB star! His presence like Napoleon will be worth 10 000 fans.

I can now see why NIU is an 11 point favorite over an excellent FB program with a history of owning NIU.

I'm not making any estimates on attendance. I still think the west side is going to be pretty light due to the game time. If this game was on a Saturday I think we would easily draw 5k more than we will tonight.

GW's one of the best players they've ever had. I think he was the most exciting to watch, though Leshon was similar in that regard.

+1 (Very well put). Many fans will be at HS tonight because of GW.
