Yes, it's not just the "state", it's the combination of 'Middle" and "State". I'd rather just have "Tennessee State University" but that'll never happen. It'll forever be the TSU that sucks money from the taxpayers and money gets lost, while we have over twice as many students (yet they get more state dollars than we do).

Something needs to change.

If you want to piss off an MT fan, just call us m-TSU. We are often confused with them from folks out of the area.

nah, we need to drop 'state' from our name and become Arkansas University; it would then be AU vs UA . . .

BTW, I did a 'Like' for the MT page also. UMT sounds great to me, but University of Memphis Tigers ???

i am in favor of a school changing their name legally and officially if they can pull it off....U guys change your school name to UL or University of Louisiana legally and officially ...like what MT is trying to do...and I'll call you that!

So did all of this come about because MTSU cannot beat TROY? Because you're going to be really dissapointed when UMT can also NOT beat TROY.

As much as everyone in Louisiana wants to try to discredit the 1984 legal name change, it was done legally and was stripped by LSU.

All Cajun fans support MT because they are mature about UL's quest in branding themselves as Louisiana for athletics. Hell, all Cajun fans support ULM branding themselves as ULM.

I support Troy changing their name, and hopefully MT can get that accomplished too.
