Illinois Basketball
U of I is playing at western michigan on nov 27. Is it easier for mac teams to get big ten teams at home in bball than ftball?

NIU, seems to be on the bottom half of the MAC as far as scheduling cool at home BB and FB games, especially Big Ten (although our Soldier Field games are cool). How hard is it to get Minn or Indiana to come to us, they've gone to numerous other non AQ stadiums...

Is it easier? Probably, because there are so many more non-conference games.

This particular case is basically a one-off because the Illinois AD screwed up their football scheduling a few years ago and as part of the WMU game in Detroit, they ended up with a road basketball game. They play in football in Champaign next year and played a basketball game in Champaign last year.

I can't really remember Illinois playing a similar game at any point in the last decade, and I don't think they have any plans to do so in the future.

That's one of the worst scheduling jobs I've ever seen.

Further proof that Guenther is indeed a clown.

I can't really remember Illinois playing a similar game at any point in the last decade, and I don't think they have any plans to do so in the future.

The only game I can think of that somewhat resembles this is when Illinois played at Bradley back in the early 2000's. This was mainly done because Illinois had just signed the 3 Peoria Manual guys so this was their Homecoming game so to speak.

Huskie1stdown - I checked ticket sales.. still plenty available. But based on what I've seen on Illinois message boards, I'd be willing to bet it will sell out and the gymnasium will be mostly orange.

And finally.. for those of you asking yourselves "why the hell would Illinois schedule this game??" Exactly. And it'd be just as stupid for U of I to play at Huskie Stadium.

Ok now everyone freak out and say this should be in S&N readyyyyy GO!

U of I vs NIU @ The Convo would most definitely sell out.

Oh yeah it would definitely sell out. It would just be 80% Illinois fans and 20% NIU.

Hey at least it would be better than what WMU did when they rented out Ford Field and hosted Illinois and only 12,000 fans showed up. They lost major on that deal.

Hate to say it but Illinois will be scary good this year if they stay healthy or out of car accidents.

They should be, but last year was supposed to be year one of the comeback and we all saw how that went.

I'm probably going to go to the WMU game, though.

Oh heavens, please open up the sky and dump 30 inches of lake effect snow all along Interstate 80 for he knows not how foolish he is.
