Ball State tops in recruiting
Scout.com has Ball State's 2011 Class ranked 75th in the country and 1st in the MAC. Tomorrow 58 recruits are expected to be in attendance at the Homecoming game with Western Michigan. That would be a record number for Ball State. And the weather gods are cooperating as well. Forecast: 80 degrees and sunny.

Well they are missing four UB recruits, so I would not really puff out my chest over any scout rankings.
Still nice to see UB in the top four.

The only "puffing" I see is the result of your scrambling to try to find a way to denigrate a straight forward post, Bull. Now stop and catch your breath. You're too old to scramble.

Not entirely. Say what you want about Stan Parrish, but he is one heck of a good recruiter. He has a great staff.

The Scout rankings reflect quantity, not quality of recruits. If you sort them by average ranking then Toledo jumps to the top and BSU goes to 5.

If that were true, then there would simply be a list of the number of recruits each team has and there would be no "average ranking." The rankings reflect both quantity and quality of recruits. Here is the official explanation from scout.com:
Team Rankings are a math formula that is based on a player's rating and his rankings. 5-Star is a rating, No. 1 quarterback is his ranking.
5 Star = 200 points
4 Star = 120 points
3 Star = 40 points
2 Star = 20 points
The No. 1 player at a position is worth 100 points, counting down to the last ranked player at his position to 0.
For Example, assuming Scout ranks 100 quarterbacks.
5-Star, No. 1 QB = 300 points
4-Star, No. 10 QB = 210 points
3-Star, No. 50 QB = 90 points
2-Star, No. 75 QB = 45 points
The Team Rankings are compiled of the Top 25 players per class. Some teams will over-sign, but only 25 count t

I was not denigrating anything... Just said that scout ratings are suspect, especially when at this point they are missing everyone... Settle down, take a prozac...

+1
And that goes for a good portion of this board.

I realize there is a formula but the only reason BSU is ranked #1 in the MAC is because they have at least 3 more commits than the next team. Look back over the previous 3 years and you will see that the #1 ranked recruiting class always has the most recruits.
And it is true that if you sort that list by average ranking then Toledo comes out on top.

Temple or NIU if you rank left to right while facing either north or south. Unless Illinois State is in.

WMU would be first if you ranked them in reverse alphabetical order.

Quantity is HUGE. If I can sign 4 or 5 more players than you, my chances of having a better recruiting class than you is SIGNIFICANT.

Aside from the fact the NCAA limits each recruiting class to 28 signings or something like that making any advantage finite.

Toledo has the highest average stars per commit. It's just that they only have 5 commits right now. There are only 12 seniors, and we have 3 grayshirts, so that really makes 8 players already even though those 3 grayshirts are not listed.

Was it a plan by the coaching staff to kill recruiting at Ball State by losing by 31 at home?
Parrish knows he's going to be fired and decided to let his team fail to take it out on the school.

Toledo had about 85 recruits at their homecoming game against Wyoming last week. And of course Toledo looked bad and lost, but still picked up a commitment from a defensive back after the game.
The outcome of one particular game doesn't influence every recruit.
