I think the dates will still be there, but the chance to get return dates takes a big hit.

I'm sure someone has the data handy - but how many MAC-Big11 games did the MAC get when the NCAA only allowed 11 games per year? Back then, each Big10/11 had 3 OOC games each to potentially schedule MAC opponents.

That would give us a rough estimate of what to expect when/if the Big10/11/12 goes to 9 conf games and 3 OOC. Of course, we'll have one more Big10/11/12 team to schedule as well.

Have any MAC teams played Nebraska lately? Oppotunities to schedule Nebraska probably open up a bit now - though they will likely use some OOC games to try to keep a rivalry or two from their Big8/Big12 days too.

Maybe this forces the MAC to start scheduling more home-and-home games with the C-USA and Sun belt.

I can see the concern, but maybe we've had TOO many MAC/B10-11 games and should try different scheduling like one - for - ones with CUSA and SBC as Akronkid suggests.

B10 got to be TOO dependent on MAC games and supposed easy Ws.

Nine conference games will mean perhaps one or even two BT teams per year will come up short of meeting the min. required for bowl eligiblity.

That extra conf game means 6 teams will lose that 9th conf game.

If it was OOC, maybe 3 teams would lose meaning say 3 teams would come up short one win by losing a conf game instead of winning a OOC.

Instead of CUSA or Sunbelt what about the Big East. With only 7 conference games, they have 5 ooc slots to fill every year and while there are several good teams in the BE, MAC programs will have a better chance of beating the average BE team than B10 team. It should also be easier to schedule a 1for 1 since they have that many game slots to fill up

WMU & Ball State

I think it is a good idea for the Big 10. I have family that does cheer for UM and were worried that the conference was going to divide MSU or OSU in the other division. Win for UM is MSU same division OSU not and playing OSU every year. This way a conference championship between the 2 would be good for them.

Michigan and Michigan State should drop Notre Dame and play WMU, EMU and CMU each year. I think Ohio State should play Ohio, Cincinnati and Miami every year. Notre Dame, Indiana and Purdue should play Ball State with Northwestern and Illinois playing NIU and Penn State playing Temple.

other series should include
Syracuse vs Buffalo
Cincinnati vs Miami
Cincinnati vs Ohio
Marshall vs Ohio
Rutgers vs Temple
Akron vs Miami florida (Lebron's James bowl)
Marshall vs Toledo.

Syracuse won't play Buffalo in anything but a 2:1 or a 1:0 deal and Warde Manual seems to be doing just fine getting 1:1's withother BCS teams so BUFF SU playing seems really unlikely

Ohio State might be smart to play Ohio every year at the Horeshoe because Ohio actually brings a nice crowd and it would make for an interesting series for the state.

Cincinnati I think would demand a 1 for 1. Miami is stuggling right now and isn't a Columbus based team.

Ohio is not going to beat Ohio State but will give the Buckeyes a solid game every year.

Not all Big Ten schools like the idea of 9 conference games. It's not set in stone.

This mean each team will average 4.5 home games per season.

For some BT teams, playing 5 road games (every other year) means the loss of a home game, at least every other year.

E.g., if UofM plays 5 road BT games AND at ND in the same season, they would be down to 6 home games.

That would cause a huge loss of revenue. UofM tries to have as many 8 home game seasons as they can.

The only reason I see that the Big 10 may entertain scheduling 9 conference games is to have more relevant conference games on their Big 10 network. This would be more appealing for viewers/cable fees instead of the normal stream of non conference games of Big 10 vs weaker opponents.
