It really is. Brings tears to the eyes of this old time UNT fan. If only we had this years ago.

Green Gang: Work And Heat In Full Force

Courtesy: University of North Texas
Release: 07/14/2010

By Steven Bartolotta, July 14, 2010, 2:33 p.m.

The heat is back on for the men in the field but the changes continue to come fast. Our latest round of pictures show that on the west side the bottom portion of the club and suite levels are beginning to take a little shape.

The west side also continues with the rakers being poured from the north to the south as the guys continue to inch their way closer to the AC.

The activity has picked up as well on the north and east sides with concrete continuing at each side. The visiting locker room has taken the most shape on the lower portion of the east side.

In the last picture of the album, I tried to get a shot of just one of the piers that was dug that will hold the scoreboard. Hopefully it gives you an idea as to the size of just one of these mammoth holes that was dug.

On a side note, Channel 11 was up shooting some stadium footage while at the same time getting some tape of Coach Dodge working out NFL'ers Chase Daniel (Saints) and Rhett Bomar (Giants) around lunch time.

Daniel and Bomar both worked on drills with Coach Dodge, sharpening their skills for both respective training camps coming up. What struck me was when Bomar came out onto the practice fields, took a look around and just went "Wow, I didn't know any of this was here."

That story I'm told will air hopefully on Sunday night on TXA 21 or Channel 11.

Is the stadium still on course to be ready in time for the 2011 football season?

Yes it is, and from the looks of it when I drive by it, it seems to be well ahead of schedule...

Yes

I hope you guys are really concentrating on the drainage. That has been an issue at ASU since the stadium was built in '74.

As you can see, the field is well below ground level. In fact, the whole lower bowl is below ground level. The drainage has been taken care of early in the project. I'd like to think the architects and Manhattan Const, builders of the new Cowboy Stadium, know what they are doing. Sure hope so.05-mafia

RE: UNT Stadium Update
We were featured in a construction trade magazine dealing with our unique drainage system....and then our field flooded. :) Hence....the new turf installed this year.
