Solich out recruits half the MAC
Oak Hills LB Ben Russell orally committed to Ohio University on Monday, according to Oak Hills football coach Kurry Commins.

Russell, who is 6-2 and 228 pounds, also had offers from Bowling Green, Air Force, Toledo, Minnesota, Kent State, Buffalo, Akron and Ball State.

I'm sure all of our coaching staffs are saying "wow, how did that drunk at OU out recruit us on one kid??? Our recruiting season is shot now we might as well give up." LOL.

I had to laugh at the title of this thread. My first thought was that he out-recruits half the MAC (but the other half kicks his butt).

Kudos to Ohio on recruiting this young man. Time will tell if he was truly a great prospect.

I forsee the those other MAC teams dropping down to FCS soon because they are continually out recruited by Solich.

Wow KC, a little chest-thumping over one recruit, hey? I'm glad Solich got one recruit that other MAC schools offered, because it's not like other MAC schools get commits from guys with Ohio offers.........

After all of the thread trashing many MAC fans have done to Temple fans that have posted threads about Temple getting a commit, I hope the Temple fans have fun trashing this thread.....

Not even worth it. The recruits I/we usually post about have more than one BCS offer, and they're almost always better than Minnesota.

Let's see how the bobcats have done so far in 2010..

Recruiting Battles Lost:
Big Ten (7), Nebraska (2), IU (2), Ohio St. (3)
Big East (7), UC (3), Pitt (1), WVU (1), UL (1), UConn (1)
MAC (3), Ball St. (1), Toledo (1), Miami (1)
ND (2)
ACC (2), Ga Tech (1), UVA (1)
Big XII (2), K-State (1), Kansas (1)
CUSA (1), ECU (1), SMU (1)
SEC (1), Auburn (1)
Pac-10 (1), Washington St (1)

Recruiting Battles Won:
MAC (8), Ball St (1), Kent (1), Akron (2), Buffalo (1), Toledo (2), BG (1)
MWC (1), Air Force (1)
Big Ten (1), Minnesota (1)

http://www.bobcatattack.com/football/recruiting.asp

-Ohio has most of its recruiting difficulty going against local Big Ten and Big East teams. 70% of Ohio's recruiting battles lost were against those 2 conferences.

-Ohio is winning most of its battles against the MAC and has shown in recent years ability to pull in a highly recruited MAC level player over multiple MAC schools.

-Ohio only has 2 verbals so far but both are at key program positions (RB, ILB) that are high priority to fill.

-The number of Ohio recruits with BCS offers/interest has sky rocketed since Solich became coach. It was rare that Ohio would ever throw its hat in the ring for upper level BCS player with 10-15 quality offers but now its common place.

Kent pulled their scholarship offer for the kid after they found out OU had offered as well. Coach Martin knows he cant beat a school located in the middle of no where that is also the flagship school for the state. Coach Tressel is also on the record for saying how hard it is to recruit against the mighty bobcats.

I thought for sure he ranked the schools from 1 to 13 in descending order by the number of verbals and then summed up the number of verbals by the bottom half and found that number less then the number of verbals that Ohio has. 03-melodramatic

Guess not. :muttering:

RE: Solich out recruits half the MAC
Typical KC. At some point another MAC school will 'outrecruit' the rest. That's sort of what happens when we all recruit the same caliber players(of course, only Ohio offers BCS caliber players 03-shhhh ).
