RE: 2009-10 MAC Total Home Attendance
-It was interesting to see Akron/Kent near the top of the attendance list, once doormats at the gate in both football and men's basketball.

-EMU does not belong in the MAC.

You left out Miami's game vs Kentucky which we hosted at PBS..attendance was 41,037 pushing the total over the 100K mark....game was moved to PBS because Yager Stadium can only accommodate 24K. Attendance for other home games outside of UC was horrible regardless.

You can't do total attendance because teams host different amounts of games.

Maybe that needs to change. The NCAA really needs to enforce a 6 home, 6 away rule. Or a 6-home game minimum if you play more than 12 games.

How do you apply something like that in basketball?

Have a minumum of one less than 50% of your OOC games be home games. The MAC plays 14 OOC games, so 6 home games isn't unreasonable. You should never go 5 home and 9 away.

Ohio is only playing 3 road games next season so we're cool there.

Toledo's attendance for homegame in Cleveland against OSU 71,727.
It would make Rocket total home attendance 212,449.

Exactly, so sschools like Penn State can't scheduloe 8 home games and buy a 9th game on neutral turf. The NCAA schould force these teams to schedule road OOC FBS games as well.

They refuse to get involved in a title game. You think they're gonna do that?

Kent State had decent attendance for the three Sept. games, but those numbers were SUPER inflated. Akron had the new stadium. I would expect both numbers to come down. The conference's basketball attendance is appalling. There is not that much going on in our schools' communities in the winter that we should not at least get 3,000 each night.

I agree 3,000 minimum at the lessor BB schools, not the 1,000 to 2,000 type numbers we've been seeing.

Deliberately left it out, of course. Just as he delibertely left out the OSU-UT gfame and did not list the number of home contests since OU had quite a few more than some teams. In a previous life KC may have worked for the Soviet disinformation bereau.

Never let facts get in the way of a dumb-ass opinion. His jealousy of Miami is reaching epic proportion. Hardly a thread goes by anymore without some specious nonsense about the decline of Oxford.

RE: 2009-10 MAC Total Home Attendance
It's a shame NIU is now in the lower 3rd for all categories. We are an hour away from the 3rd largest city in America, and have plenty of other decent sized areas surround De Kalb. There should be no reason why NIU shouldn't average at least 20-30 thousand per home game for football.

And basketball attendance is awful.

I fully blame NIU and its horrible job of marketing the school to students, alumni, and surrounding cities. It's really a joke.

with only 5 home games and alcorn st as our home OOC, a weeknight game in november, a home game vs akron who was down last year and no WMU I was actually pleased with CMU attendance. I hear rumours we have NC state comming in the future, we definitely have Navy and Michigan State on the way to Mt Pleasant so our scheduling is improving!!

OK, maybe me too since I can't figure out how you miss two of the largest home game attendance numbers of the entire MAC season. For those of us with mid-double digit IQs could you explain this apparant oversight? I'm so slow I always thought axeme was pretty astute.
