Don't ask, don't tell
It is about time something is being done about this. Eliminate it today! Why will this take a year? Here is the conversation when there is a gay person in the military.

Soldier: I'm gay.
Commanding officer: Cool, you're not fired. Keep on killing terrorists something fierce, dismissed.

Why is it that hard to implement the policy? The Exalted One has no problem signing an executive order for other things, do it for this basic issue. Let everyone serve their country with pride.

This is something I defer to the military.

If they want to repeal it, fine by me. If they don't want to repeal it, fine by me.

Seriously.. this isn't like they have to build something or pay for something. They are changing a rule, not making something. No reason it should take a year. Are gay people going to learn how to become good soldiers a year from now, while they couldn't today? Are they are prepping the homophobic soldiers to be more accepting and it will take a year of counseling?

In theory, turning it on is easy. You just have to be sure you know the ramifications. Homophobia is still an issue and how will this change the way our military works in a war zone. It would be great if everyone was accepting but that is not reality

I'm all in favor of "ask and tell". We sexual degenerates of proud of what makes us unique. If anyone were to ask me, I would fill their ears with stories that would give them prominent goosebumps. But, then again, in my case it's "just one look and no need to ask". :tasha:

Yep let's put this issue on Obama when it's a problem this nation has been struggling to deal with for decades.

For the same reason it took years and years for african americans to get voting rights, or for women to get voting rights. There are a ton of politics and much resistance among powerful people i'm sure. The system doesn't change as easily as it sounds....

not making any excuses by any means, but thats probably the reality of the situation.

I put it on whoever is in power. It should be changed without hesitation and he is the president right now. I felt the same way under Premier Bush. And Obama put the issue on himself, so he should act.

It should be decided by the military and their leaders want it changed. McCain is acting like a ******* lately. He's now saying it should be decided on by congress, when a couple of years ago he said it should be decided by the military leaders.
