Which coaches will be gone at the end of the year?
Who gets hired by another school and who gets fired?

Right now I would say only Brookhart is out.

Martin has pretty much saved his job if the Flashes finish 6-6 and every other coach is either very new or doing well enough to keep their job..

I would agree with that. Many coaches are too new to get fired right now.

I would also say that only Al Golden and Butch Jones are in any position to be hired away.

Big teams might be a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on Golden so quickly. He could go, but if he does it will not be to a power school, it will be a bottom feeding BCS (at best) or another non AQ team.

Martin has another year on his contract, AD Laing Kennedy is retiring with the new AD not coming on board until summer, and there is no money for a buyout coupled with hiring a more expensive new coach, so Martin was almost guaranteed another year regardless of how the Flashes did this season.

That said, he has done a decent job of improving talent and of making strides in turning around a losing football culture.

Golden will not leave for another non AQ team. I can tell you that much.

Golden, Gill, Jones candidates to leave. Golden is actively looking to move up. IMO, Gill has done the most with the least and would get consideration if the right opening occurred. For example if Fat Charlie is greased, and a Brian Kelly of Skip Holtz takes that opening, Gill would take either job. Cinn pay over mill....ECU 800k range. He would be a better candidate than Jones or Golden for either spot.

UC would want Jones over Gill as he too runs the spread and was a seamless replacement for Kelly at CMU. Not sure Jones would take that job though.

UC might take a good look at Jones.

Lets see..... UC - in the Big East, located in a talent rich football state in a fairly large city, pays about $1 mil. a year OR....CMU in the MAC, located in up in the middle of nowhere in a state without alot of H.S. football talent, pays about $300k.

Sure - Jones would rather stay in MT. Pleasant. Sure03-drunk

Golden will not leave for UVA or Louisville. I guess Maryland might be possible, but we don't expect him to leave, regardless.

IMO, Golden is willing to leave for less than a UVA or Louisville.

Maybe, maybe not. Jones came to back to CMU and brought a lot of CMU people to the program. I think he is much less of a mercenary than Kelly. Sure he will go somewhere eventually but I would be surprised if it was Cincy. I could be wrong though.

Like what, West Chester? You're an idiot if you think he's leaving Temple for a non-AQ. What? Memphis? Memphis isn't hiring Golden. He has no ties there at all anyway. Rice? Tulane? Western Kentucky?

What exactly are you trying to say? Coach has built a very strong foundation here and can become the 'JoePa of Philly' if he so pleases. Why would he get up and leave unless someone from a BCS conference in his recruiting footprint is willing to pay him over a mil?

Ask Ball State. They were on top of the MAC last year (until Buffalo beat them) and were building a dynasty. They lost their coach to SDSU after he had one good year. Unfortunately the MAC is a proving ground for schools with deep pockets.

Hoke is making $800K. Golden is making just under $600K. I dont think Golden is going to start over somewhere for $200K. Not to mention we could certainly up his salary.

That and Hoke was losing a large base of his team. This Temple team has a large portion of his team coming back next year. Anything can happen, but things are looking as if they can only go up in the next few years.

I know nothing of Golden's situation and whether he would leave, but did someone say he could be the "JoePa of Philly"? How about a couple winning seasons in a row first.

I would think that Kill at NIU gets a look by some schools. Pretty impressive job so far at NIU. With NIU heading toward another bowl that would open some eyes. Especially if Illinois decides to fire Zook.
