Color me impressed that the release came out before the season started.

I agree.

As ArkSt fan has said, Steinbrecher appears to be using more judgement than Chrsyt by getting the Men's schedule out prior to the season.

Agreed. About time the MAC does something that's taken for granted by every other conference.

Ok, the press release goes on to list all the networks with MAC appearances which includes Comcast SportsNet Chicago. However, i see zero NIU games listed with Comcast SportsNet Chicago next to them. What's up with that?

The games listed as Fox Sports Net may be getting clearance onto CSN Chicago.

NIU doesn't have to be a reason for CSN to show those games, thought their involvement in 1-2 would help.

So then why don't they list Fox Sports Net and CSN Chicago together on those games?

I have never seen a FSN MAC game on Comcast SportsNet Chicago before. That would be new to me.

Fox Sports Atlantic is also showing a Kent State game on 11/28.

http://msn.foxsports.com/id/3324400

I'm wondering if the game is listed as Fox Sports Net broadcast it will show up on all of the following channels:

Fox Sports Ohio
Fox Sports Detroit
Fox Sports Midwest
Comcast Sports Net Chicago
Time-Warner Sportsnet-Buffalo

This would kind of be like the MAC's GOTW on ESPN Syndicated TV where multiple affilates broadcast. Essentially there is a 10 game FSN men's basketball package. If this is true, it would represent an improvement over past seasons.

Also the MAC has all of the quarterfinals and semifinals on Fox Sports Net.

It would be an improvement. The MAC FB package on FSN used to clear on FSN Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, Ohio, Midwest and Empire Sports Network. This would, if each game clears on these RSNs each week.

Only headscratcher to me is that several of the Saturday games overlap the national PAC-10 game by a 1/2 hour. Some conferences like the MVC, used the PAC-10 games as either a lead-in or followed a PAC-10 game. I realize that some of these are out of FSN's control because they are doing a MAC doubleheader with the men and women.

I've been poking around to see whether these games will be picked up on the Fox Sports Pack (Atlantic, Central, Pacific) and I don't belive they will be.

The MAC has gone probably 5 seasons now without a BB package announcement pre-season and in the last few seasons has provided no mention of the games on the website with a last minute announcement so yea once again establishing broadcasts on our regional footprint will be big and we never had all of the quarters televised before for mens.

These will not be on the FCS package of channels because of ESPN owning the rights to these games, not FSN.

The last few years, the men's and women's doubleheaders have been on FSOhio with FSOhio personalities both doing the games and a little studio show in between. While I don't know what would preclude the other RSNs from picking up the games, I am not sure that any will if it is the same setup.

There was a release on the EMU site that had a couple extra FSDetroit telecasts, specifically involving the three Michigan schools.

This is much better coverage than in recent years.

On the MAC release, if you notice every thing that is released that isn't Fox Sports Net (e.g. Fox RockyMountain, Fox Sports Ohio) is actually part of another package like Xavier's.

What I can conclude is the MAC has this year:

1. A 6 game ESPN/ESPNU package including the MAC championship.
2. A 14 game Fox Sports Net regional package for Men/Women BB.
3. The entire MAC semifinals/quarterfinals on FSN (6 games)

That is a 26 game league package. That is about double what the MAC had last year and the Fox games were Ohio/Detroit only.

Additionally, the MAC has games on FSN Detroit outside of this package.

Plus I would expect Ball St. to have its usual package of games on the Ball St. Sports Network, syndicated throughout the state of Indiana.
