Do you guys get Purdue at home? We have had them at our place twice and played at their place three times. We have been doing one for one games with them and several other BCS schools over the last recent history (usually the lower level of Big Ten, Big Twelve or Pac Ten) including Iowa State, Pitt, Kansas, Arizona, Purdue, Minnesota, and upcoming with Missouri (our former coach of ten years before Toledo Tom took over, Gary Pinkel coaches there so that made it possible). We did not get one for ones with Michigan or Penn State but ended up winning those ones, which I was lucky to attend both. The Ohio State game we are the home team in Cleveland Brown Stadium and will net about $5MM with ticket sales and donations but we have to play at their place for free in exchange. And we are playing at Florida in 2013 for a 1.2MM payout or something like that but they are not coming here, but we have a bunch of Florida kids on our team so it should help in recruiting. Almost forgot we also have one for one games with Fresno State & Boise State. Those will both be good home games that should pack the Glass Bowl

Nope, Purdue is a one-and-done game. We don't have an AD with any vision or negotiating skills who can consistently get us 1-for-1's.

We have a Kansas 1-for-1 deal in 2011/2012 and i guess that is supposed to shut us up for the next 10 years. Although, if Kansas buys us out after we play at their place then i guess we don't have a BCS home game anytime in the next five years.

I'm jealous. Toledo is about the biggest team I've ever seen in Huskie Stadium. 03-weeping

I dont know about your AD. But I know one thing, you guys have great fan support at home since the Novak days that will sell out and more for those kind of games! If NIU could horse shoe the south end zone how many more could you hold? Even temporary bleachers? I remember the bleachers in that south end zone when I was younger and used to attend NIU games when I could. I know they are gone now but could be added for a big game temporary Just thinking out loud Seems like those games could be premium games for all seats and your charge more to cover the cost. That is what UT does at $10 dollars more per seat or something like that for the bigger teams because I think pay outs are involved. .

There would be nowhere to put temporary bleachers. Our north endzone has the Yordon Center in the way and the south endzone has a berm and scoreboard in the way.

I can't see why NIU couldn't add an extra 8-10k seats if we did indeed do a horseshoe in the south endzone. That would increase our capacity to around 36-38k.

You can't argue with youngsters like EPA. Let him spend a few years living and working in the real world to come to grips with the economics that drive our world, to include NIU athletics.

I just love reading these message board threads... honestly, theres nothing more entertaining - every thread starts out on one topic and inevitably someone posts something totally off the wall and then everyone jumps on the debate and the thread turns into a pissing contest. love it. keep it up guys !

Filling in the South endzone in a horseshoe configuration would be cool, and from what I've heard, the East grandstand was designed so that an upper level could be added on later. But lets be realistic, NIU doesn't have the money for that sort of upgrade, and it doesn't have the need - Huskie Stadium hardly ever sells out. While NIU would be close to the lower tier among BCS stadiums capacity wise, it would look horible on TV and be a waste of money if the added sections were empty all the time. Maybe getting better opponents on a regular basis that could consitently draw a sell out crowd would warrant the expansion, but it's all pie in the sky right now.
