UT football
I'm not in Tennessee right now....what is the general mood about UT and Lane Kiffin amongst the masses?

Have no clue, I don't keep up with it. I thought they hired Elaine Kitten, thought that was odd... :)

I do not keep up with them either and do not care about ut. But it is hard to sling the money at football that they do and not win.

Not a UT fan, but I will say that I hope to see UT and Lane be successful. I went down there for a coaches clinic a couple of months ago and it seemed like a different environment. The NFL is in town now.

I hope that UT burns for their booting Fulmer the way they did. If they loose all football superiority I will be happy because they deserve it.

I was just wondering if they had visions of national title after beating up on WKU.

Alittle early to predict. WKU is in its first year of really playing football (Division 1-A). When Tennessee gets into its conference schedule we'll have a better idea of where they stand.

How is what UT did to Fulmer any different then what they did to Majors to give Fulmer the job? In my eyes what they did to Majors was much worse. Fulmer was Majors right hand man. They at least let Fulmer finish the season. In the past I think UT has been to loyal in football so that when they finally do make a change they don't know how to handle it. A change had to be made and they finally made a clean break and brought in a outsider.

RE: UT football
As for the mood I would say people are very excited because Kiffin and his staff is brand new, doing something totally different. They certainly weren't predictable as they have been in the past on offense. Kiffin is bringing in very good players I just hope people don't get to excited and start to expect to much this year. I know that is going to happen but I hope they don't go to overboard.

Looks like the best football team that $40 million dollars will buy.

RE: UT football
If they beat UCLA this weekend the UT fans will come out proclaiming that this is their year to win a national championship.

RE: UT football
UT is currently a 10 point favorite to beat UCLA, and I think it was higher than that earlier. Somebody in Vegas is definitely drinking the Kool-Aid after beating up on basically a 1AA team.

RE: UT football
Island - I don't think anyone is drinking the Kool-Aid to pick the Vols by 10. UCLA did go 3-9 last year, correct? 10 might be a bit long, but that seems to be the nature of the lines on early season college football games, at least this year.
Guru is right on the money. There were guys on sports radio this week talking about the Vols going to a BCS bowl -- not the hosts, the callers. We'll see if they are singing the same tune after the Bruins.
Although I hate UTK with a passion, I do hope they beat the Gators, although that's not exactly in the likely column.
