"Qualified" seems to be a euphamism for "moderate" or "compliant."

Bush conceded many issues to the political left, from immigration to medicare reform to deficit spending. He was castrated for all of those, and worse the GOP lost it's will to stay the course on small gov't, opening the door to the current administration.

When the left trots out the term "qualified," I don't give a damn. That's their opinion, and frankly we've already established we have differing opinions.

To me "qualified" means having the capabilities, and experience to perform the job at a reasonable level.

Then no one on the Dem ticket was qualified. That's why it's a pretty bizarre argument to throw at Palin, since she actually has executive experience over a pretty darn big land mass.

Wow. Talk about a blind following.

This is the skit I was referring to:

I'm not sure why you guys felt the need to point out that not every Tina Fey impersonation was based on Palin's exact words.

EDIT: Ah, I see dwr already posted a better youtube of it.

They're all shameless self promoters, but her particular shtick to get elected as someone you like, or because she's "hot" (boy is that ever subjective) is exactly what is wrong with our political system right now. You guys have crucified (even going so far as tout him on a cross with your own designed images) Obama for shallowness in terms of his experience and "slick" (aka very measured and controlled) handling of the media, but this dumb broad basicly makes the case that the soccer mom two doors down from you should be veep.

I'm not that big of a fan of the establishment, and it is becoming more and more apparent that Obama is just as establishment as the rest of them, but a Palin is not the answer. That's the stupid reform option.

We have a lot of supposed "lift yourself up by the bootstraps" types here, and yet most of these are just blindly loyal republican partisans (apparently because of social issues such as OH NOES TEH GAYS), because they're busy playing hypocrite with every criticism of Obama's continuation of much of the Bush policies, but almost none of them prefer a smart, self made person who is campaigning on substantive, experienced positions on difficult economic and foreign and domestic issues, rather than "lipstick soccer mom" and wedge social issues such as gay marriage and abortion.

There's a few Paulians that I guess can claim that, but he's as much of an establishment type ideologue as the rest.

Would love to see a real pragmatist make a run. None of this "outsider" spray paint bull****. I want someone with some experience and a good track record, but who doesn't give two ***** about partisanship and approaches every decision without already having made up his/her mind because of ideology.

Unfortunately, our system doesn't work that way. So dittoheads like GGNiner will rush to elect someone who couldn't run the local PTA let alone the world's premier super power, on the off chance that she'll make whatever specific brand of christian dogma into the letter of the law for all of us.

And dont let GGNiner fool you. The only reason he wants this dummy in office is to do just that. He jerks off to dreams of a realized W.A.S.P. nation. The comical part is how he wants world WASP domination, completely missing the irony of his islamic extremist criticisms.

88% of statistics are made up on the spot.

That said, I do not support that practice. I suppose women and minorities get one free pass each though.

Careful, your chauvanism is showing.

Seems like you bring up the subject more than anyone else.

That were critizied under Bush. But that fact doesn't fit w/ your sterotyping and ranting.

So you like Palin?

You seem to be pretty confused.

We have a pragmatist. Might try principle for a change.

That criticism might work if Palin weren't governor of the largest state in the US.

She's a witch!!! Burn her!!!:billgates:

She's a pretty soccer grandma because her hard partying teenage daughter had a baby out of wedlock. I'd trust her to maybe run the PTA.

But that's also not the point of my post. My point is, we need better than pretty or sweet or likeable, or someone the common slob can identify with. I want someone who inspires confidence and respect based on experience, open mindedness, aptitude, and demonstrated decision making and diplomacy capabilities. Someone who runs without resorting to pushing the populace's buttons on wedge issues, or campaigning on oversimplified ideologies. I am willing to compromise on some of my personal stances on specific individual issues if someone like that runs.

interesting theory there, WASP nation huh? except for the fact those that actually want that are either Leftist neo-nazi's or some ron paul or Pat Buchanan supporters, you have a point.

yes, please burn me the way bloody Queen Mary was so famous for.
