Reading on the site posted by PTJR, I found these stats on Kimmo. I just stumbled on these. I'd like to find some on other former Trojans, especially Carl Brown, since he probably is the oldest former Trojan if he is still playing. Anyone know where some of the Trojans are playing overseas?

Kimmo was/is one solid BASKETBALL player. We sure could use a lot more guys like him with serious BASKETBALL skills, and not rely so much on guys who are just athletic with a lot less BASKETBALL skills.

What were Kimmo's stats? Anyone know?

In 03-04, he averaged 17 minutes, 6.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He shot 46% from the field and 41% from the arc.

I still maintain we would have won the overall had Kimmo stayed and finished his career here. But I guess we'll never really know, will we?

Kimmo was a good one, and he would have made us a little better, but even will him, our team couldn't have overcome grinder ball. I've said this many times, grinder ball won't win the Sun Belt. If Shields ever wins it, he'll have to completely change his offensive philosphy.

I believe "grinder ball" is normally played by teams who realize they don't have the talent to compete with the best teams, so they develop a philosophy that allows them to slow down the game, and normally keep it close, giving you a chance to win. The only fallacy of that philosophy is that you keep teams with less talent than you in the game, and with a few bad breaks, you end up losing to teams you should beat. I believe if we could recruit the kids who have great offensive talent, we'd play a different style, but I guess our coaches figures this style gives us the best chance to win. But you're probably correct, that when it really comes down to it, it's difficult winning the tournament or the overall and getting to the NCAA with this style of offense. And it's not really "fan friendly".
