They're in the NIT. They got a first-round bye and host the Syracuse-Canisius winner.

The women's NIT guarantees a spot for each conference. The team with the best league record not to make the NCAA Tournament gets an automatic NIT big.

It sucks, but BG is better off in the NIT anyway. Besides, when 15th ranked South Dakota State (31-2) gets a #7, who really wants to be a part of that.

The women need to advance. They need to redeem themselves, and win some big games.

Thanks for the info...glad to see that the BG women are playing on. I was perusing an on line USA today article about the NIT and didn't see any references to BG, and was concerned that they got "hosed" by the selection committee...were they strongly considered for an NCAA berth after losing to BSU in the MAC finals?.

I'm guessing that they got some consideration but their strength of schedule was not very good at all so that probably took them off the board early.

They had a good RPI but not solid enough and when you couple that with their SOS, that is probably what doomed them in the end. That and losing to Miami late in the regular season. Their only "quality wins" I believe came against Hartford and Dayton were probably not attractive enough to bolster their resume.

I do wish the Falcons luck though in the WNIT. I'm glad they got a home game, plus an added bonus of a first round bye. That is a great testament to the BG's reputation.
