Kitten's NYC Updates and Restaurant Review Thread
I thought I would just post my updates and reviews of the restaurants in one thread. When I've got something new to add, I will just add it to this thread.

I'm going through my receipts so this is in no particular order except how I find them as I'm organizing my room.

Feb. 11th: I ate at Lasagna Ristorante in Chelsea (196 8th Ave. and 20th street) Lasagana Ristorante

I had the House Salad and Hot & Spicy Penne Ala Vodka. They were incredible. Very Yummy. I wasn't in the mood for wine so I had their Ultimate Margarita. Wow! It was good and strong. I highly recommend this place.

They've got cool lunch specials for Mon-Fri. I think I will have to go back before leaving the Chelsea area.

Feb. 13th Empire Diner in Chelsea (210 10th Ave.). I went there for breakfast. Empire Diner

I had the French toast which was very tasty. It is dipped in Vanilla Haagen Dazs, Eggs, Cinnamon and Nutmeg. Very Good.

My one complaint on the place which will determine if I go back to one of these places if I'm needing my morning caffeine of soda is that they charge you for each glass you have. $3 a glass...no refills. And trust me the glasses may hold 8 oz at best. Ridiculous.

Feb. 12th I went to Malibu Diner at 163 W 23rd Street for breakfast. I got this huge platter of pancakes with bacon for $8 total. He didn't even charge me for my coke and kept refilling. Talk about a total difference. This is definitely a place I will go back to for the service and good food.

I've got to take a break for now. But I will give other restuarant reviews when I get a moment or find the receipt.

Hope you enjoy!

April 16 is opening day. But they are having two exhibition games on April 3rd and 4th. I doubt I will be at any of them. I will have to wait until later in the season when they are sucking again with their high dollar payroll, divas and lack of a manager.

If you're going to do lunch at value diners in Chelsea/Garment District, there is a 'Healthy Diner' @ 5th Ave and 27th (next to the Museum of Sex, ha ha) and a better one at 'Comfort Diner' on 23rd btwn 5th and 6th Aves (north side).

Best casual to slightly dive-ish bar is 'No Idea' at 20th between Broadway and Park Ave South. Good drink specials and my office is usually represented on Friday evening...

The "diner" is a nice choice for inexpensive eating in NYC. I remember 10 years ago, we were looking at the breakfast menu in our hotel, and the buffet was $18 per person. We went out on the street and down a block and had breakfast at a diner for like $4 each. No frills, not fancy, but a nice way to save $$$.

Well...The Brooklyn apartment didn't work out...for many reasons. She was really weird. I mean, really weird. And some of her restrictions were just too strict.

So I'm back on the room to rent hunt. <sigh>

Oh and still looking for a job.

Well first she was a psychic and was concerned that I wasn't conservative. Second, there was no door on what would have been my room, only a curtain.

Second, she didn't want me to use her kitchen because she didn't want stuff out if any of her clients were there yet her place was like a pigsty.

Her email was basically Brooklyn gym girl and she looked like she hadn't seem a gym I'm years possibly a decade.

Kitten,

If I may, I would like to recommend 3 more restaurants you may like.

1) Carnegie Deli - try the Reuben & cheesecake (to die for!)

2) Peter Luger - located in Brooklyn; pretty expensive & one has to call pretty far in advance for a reservation, but well worth it!

3) Carmine's - awesome Italian restaurant; one is in Times Square, & I can't remember where the other one is located. Sorry!

My hub & I usually go to NYC to watch the Mets beat up on the Braves, but we aren't gonna be able to make it this year. 03-hissyfit 03-weeping 03-hissyfit

Good luck on finding a place!

Very! Thanks. I've lost the signal on the wireless network so I'm unable to job search, etc. It will be nice to get back to looking for a job once I get moved in. Thank goodness for my iPhone or I would be really screwed.

Now now Kitten-- the Yankees wont be sucking this year. Last year was the exception, not the rule and I still think they had the 7th best record in baseball. Too bad 2 of the top 6 were ahead of them. They trimmed off most of the dead weight, have a new Stadium, and a pitching staff that is 2nd to none. They're bringing home # 27 this year!!!

It is around there somewhere. I already like David wright and if jeter marries that minka kelly chick then I will have to find a new player to lust after. David wright would fit the bill.

Carmine's is one of my most favorite places to eat in New York City. Their eggplant parmigiana is to die for. Dang, I'm hungry.

You could not be more correct on those first two eateries. I have never made it to Carmine's. Although I have heard only great things about it. Peter Lugers sauce, is the best. Carnegie, just give me the Reuben and fries. I'm not a cheescake guy. But I like everything else, there. Great places.

I've been to da nico's. It was good but I've had better since I've been here. See lasagna restaurant above. MissJ I will do carmines with you when you come to town. I hear they are into large portions.
