2009 recruiting
Who else are we going to sign? I have heard Cal has wanted to sign 3 or 4 more players for next year. If this is true, I would like to get John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and Latavious Williams. That would def put us in contention for a national championship!!!

Cousins opted out of his commit to UAB because he wasn't sure about Mike Davis staying at UAB. Has anyone actually seen this guy play? This boy is huge.

Okay - that is just insane. Dodson would not be on our 3rd team. With the way Mack & Kemp are playing this year, your 2nd team (if WW can even beat out Dodson for the starting spot) would at least include Dodson, Garcia, Coleman & Mack/Kemp. With the way Cal has talked up Garcia, if he happens to be here next year, he should get ample playing time & will likekly be battling with WW & Dodson for the starting spot. Dennis would have every opportunity to sneak in & earn some playing time his freshman year, but likely he would be the odd man out. Simpkins would also likely be in there before PHN, again if everything plays out like it has so far this year. There is so much up in the air next year, however that it is too early to guess what our team will look like. I know this the 2 things we need most are toughness inside (Coleman) & a dead eye 3 point shooter (Xavier & Dodson), so I think whomever else we sign, we will be okay.

Where is Robert Sallie? So far this year he has been a better shooter than Mack or Kemp.

It's Roburt Sallie or John Sallie (if your last name starts with Wolo).

you know.. that first team looks great.. but i would hate the following year.. you would have a very good shot at lossing 4 of the 5 starters.. the next year would be pretty rough to say the least

All signs point to Cal "going for broke" in 2009-10. You have to take your chances & recruit the best players. Likely - Wall, Henry, Cousins & Taggart (if we got both Wall & Cousins) would be gone & you would have Mack, Kemp & PHN as Seniors - so essentially you lose over half your team. Still.....what if we won a national championship? Would it be worth it then? Look at Kansas this year & that is likely what we would be in 2010 with another great class coming in for 2011. I would take that in a heartbeat. You can't worry about the future as much as winning championships when you have your window.

RE: 2009 recruiting
I think the next year would still be talented if all of them left..
We would still have CJ at point, sallie, witherspoon, dodson, coleman, dennis, garcia and simpkins. plus whichever recruits we land out of the 2010 class. A lot of those players would be much improved than where they are now. Think about it, in 2 years witherspoon can be a star along with some of those other players. That team would be better than we think. Plus, it isnt a sure thing that wall, cousins, and/or henry would go pro. Especially henry since he might want to play with his brother longer.

It would be similar to Kansas this year. A few good players, but overall a mediocre team that will be a #8-12 seed in the NCAA tournament. It will definitely be a re-loading year.

We're going all in next year. The stars seem to be aligning.... If Cal can pull this off, we are looking at one of the scariest teams this decade.

Sorry I'm knit-picking..(slow day)...but do you really think Dodson will start over Witherspoon with one year of AASAA under his belt?

Ahh so....juniper berry.
It is not who starts........but, who finishes!

So let it be said, so let it be done!

RE: 2009 recruiting
Seriously, it is about matchups in college BB. Would you want a quick, lanky guy(Witherspoon) in all situations? No.
Sometimes, you'll want a power guy/shooter...which is Dodson's MO.
Situations and how well a player is playing AT THAT TIME, will dictate PT.
That has been a hallmark of Cal's coaching since he has been here.
