This is simply astounding.

Heck, while we're at it, we'll throw in Indiana? Have they ever been better at football than basketball?

Back in the 80’s it was common knowledge in Lexington that football would never be allowed to surpass basketball at Kentucky. Not sure about now but I don’t see anything that’s changed.

As recently as 4 years ago Calipari and Stoops were publicly feuding about the same subject.

Stoops had Kentucky where it is now multiple times and we saw how that turned out.

Nope, and they won't be this year either.

I wouldn’t say multiple times. His two best records were two years of 10-3 and 5-3 in the SEC. After that he went 8-5 once and 7-6 a bunch. Overall record was 82-80 overall and 43-68 in the SEC. Pretty mediocre but acceptable at Kentucky.

Gotta wait to make such a statement. Kentucky has 3 ranked opponents in their next 3 games. They need to go at least 2-1 to claim they are legit. If they go 1-2 or 0-3 then nah, same old Kentucky.

Stoops was 7-1 at the same point in 2018. He was 6-1 in 2014. Stein has started strong. Let’s see how he finishes.

Don’t get me wrong I’m happy for the young man. I have a ball telling Kentucky fans it took a Louisville guy to make Kentucky football a winner.

Wouldn't we have to go back to see what Kentucky FB was like before Rupp got there?

That’s a good point.

The story I have heard since I was old enough to remember is Kentucky gave Rupp a Cadillac and Bryant a watch for the season each had in 1950.

Some say it happened. Others claim Bryant was joking when he used it as a reason for leaving Kentucky.

UK going 11-1 in football and winning the NCAA basketball championship in the same season is a nice high water mark.
