100% True. But that’s not something we just suddenly learned on Tuesday night. It’s been obvious for a long time. So, the GOP has no right to act surprised or disappointed.

Quote:I can't imagine if we had to fight a war like WWII again.
America will never fight a war like that again. No matter what happens to other countries and no matter what happens to us, America will never fully mobilize again as we did in 1942-45. The people who currently inhabit the United States are no longer that kind of people.

“a great idea” is your description, not mine. But even now, after the electoral massacre, I absolutely believe it was the least-bad option, and am thankful Trump made the call. Of course we shouldn’t leave it 1/2-done and 1/2-undone. That is worse than doing nothing. We will see what happens from here.

Quote:The Republican congress did nothing. Achieved nothing. Took the mandate they were given and did precisely zero with it. Feckless losers who are relieved to no longer be in the majority.
There is simply no world where a full, comprehensive agenda can pass the House with a 220-215 majority. The Dems have never done that, either.

Show me a result like this in a presidential election, and I’ll believe you. But not on the basis of a Senate election in a bad year when the Dems had their best-possible candidate and we had a B-lister, trying to replace an embittered incumbent who was openly undermining us.

Responding to bolded. Doesn't this sound like a familiar early 00's tap dance? And look where that got us for 20 years.

I agree. I blame Covid. Due to work from home abilities, so many people escaped their previous states due to high taxes, high rent, etc for a cheaper and better life down south. And then went and voted for the exact things they escaped from.

Still pushing this lazy ass narrative. Y'all need to let go of this and look at the real numbers of who moved and how badly the GOP got beaten. The reality of # of people relocating isn't anywhere close to enough to explain that. You'd have to assume literally every transplant from the Northeast is a liberal AND voted AND moved to VA and NC. It ignores the fact that a lot of people moving south are sick of the Northeast politics (I know plenty like that). Your take lets the GOP off the hook for running awful candidates.

https://usafacts.org/answers/what-states...-carolina/

In 2024, most people moving to North Carolina came from Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia.

https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/s...rylink=cpy

North Carolina gained nearly 340,000 people from other states in 2023, year-over-year, according to recent Census data. Of those new residents, about 40,000 came from Florida — the most from a single state.

Nah, not lazy, just what I've seen locally. My neighborhood has almost completely turned over, and all the "Equality" posters/signs are now in their front yards during election time. Interestingly, the US flags only appear when a certain party wins.

Georgia has gained a lot of Black residents from the north, especially Chicago. And they are 90+% Democrat. That has turned a deep red state into a closer state. Georgia is still red, but the blue side is turning out better. Much better this year.

Surely your anecdotal evidence overrides the actual numbers.

Georgia will be Louisiana within the next 4 years. Atlanta is just about at the New Orleans level now. The only thing holding it back is it isn't as old.

The morons in maga-world ran on the economy in 2024, won because of it, then they proceeded to make things exponentially worse than the Biden administration ever did.

Then they doubled down, twiddling their thumbs about ballrooms, DEI, and other nonsensical things that simply don't matter. Very "let them eat cake." The cowardice or unwillingness of repubs' ability to stand up to Trump in his dumbest moments was noted.

Make no mistake - this belt-to-ass moment isn't about Iran. It didn't help their case any, but they had dug their own hole WELL before then.

How did I know that you'd be over here gloating? GTFO, we never liked you anyway. I bet you look just like one of the crazies we see hounding ICE and posting batcrap crazy videos on tik tok.

I am very intrigued by this. How is today's economy and gas prices worse than Biden's?

Price growth had been eating into everyday Americans' take-home pay thanks to Trump's tariff nonsense well before Iran became an issue.
Groceries are more expensive now, and have been since Trump took office....then you add the soaring gas prices to it, stagnant wages (or worse, tiny wage increases eaten up by massive insurance hikes), mortgage rates pricing first-time buyers out, etc.

Make no mistake that this was about more than the economy, however - it was an utter repudiation of everything Trump and his fan club in Congress allowed:

Voters want peace, he gave them an undeclared war.
Voters want relief from high prices, he gave them tariffs.
Voters want corruption out of Washington, he made the "swamp" even more corrupt than before, rewarding those who bent the knee and going on a rampage against those who didn't.
Hispanic voters helped Trump win in 2024, and he sent ICE in to profile them, sometimes brutally.
Voters want stability in the world, and Trump gave us broken alliances and sidled up to dictators like Vladimir Putin.
The cancel culture of the MAGA right inflicted immense cruelty on its enemies, and their mindless followers relished every second.

People simply have had enough of Trump and those in Congress who enabled him.

If Trump launches an occupation of Iran, and tries to install a democratic government there, then I will join you in opposition. That was the critical mistake Bush43 made in Iraq. So far, Trump does not appear to be repeating it.

Quote:The fear is rarely about the success. It is about what is attached to it. Common feared consequences include:

Higher expectations. One win becomes the new baseline, and the next result is judged against it.

Visibility. Success draws attention, and attention can invite criticism.

Envy and loss of belonging. Some people worry that colleagues, friends or family will resent them or feel left behind.

Identity change. A person who has seen themselves as an underdog may not know how to be someone who wins.

Responsibility. A promotion brings more people to manage and more decisions that cannot be undone.
