Trump blames Fox News for Blue-nami, insists he’s more popular than ever
President Donald Trump began election night by lashing out at Fox News. He implausibly tried to blame the conservative network for the GOP’s devastating midterm losses.
By the end of the night, though, Trump was on the phone with Fox's anchors—underscoring just how much he relies on the network's platform, even as he rails against its coverage.
Fox “bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition, and worse,” Trump declared on Truth Social shortly before midnight Eastern time.
Instead, he said “congratulations to the Democrats” and expressed surprise at some of the results.
He took one brief swipe at Fox while on the network’s air, calling Fox’s polling unit “terrible,” when in fact it’s highly respected throughout the industry.
Anchor Bret Baier defended his colleagues, remarking, “Tonight, actually, the results are pretty close to what the Fox polls showed.”
....
To explain the GOP’s losses, which were more sweeping than many political prognosticators had anticipated, some Fox commentators and MAGA social media influencers cited Trump’s war in Iran, the resulting high gas prices, and other broken promises of the past two years.
But they did so gingerly, criticizing the president’s policies without quite bringing themselves to blame the president himself.
....
The Fox commentators were all too well aware that the president was probably listening as they spoke.

During the 5:00 p.m. hour on Tuesday, shortly before the first polls closed, Trump raged about Jessica Tarlov, the lone liberal host on ‘The Five.’ He called Tarlov “dumb as a rock” and said her voice is irritating. He also texted a rebuttal to one of the show’s other hosts, Greg Gutfeld, who dutifully read the message on air.
Tarlov treated it like a spammy campaign text and... later responded to Trump further on X, writing, “Reality is a tricky thing and he should get better at dealing with it.”
As Fox struck a pessimistic tone about the GOP’s electoral performance, Trump also griped about the network’s polling questions and guest bookings, hinting that he might treat the network as a scapegoat in the days ahead.
“FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats,” he wrote.
Trump accurately described Fox’s recent ratings decline, but he blamed it on perceived disloyalty. Media analysts have largely attributed Fox’s slump to GOP voter malaise, and Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch has blamed “viewer fatigue.”
Trump, seemingly in denial about his low approval ratings, claimed, “It’s them, not me—My numbers are better than they have ever been.”
In reality, Trump (80) is at or near record lows in numerous approval rating polls.
A few minutes before his call to Baier, Trump objected to the presence of former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio on Fox’s pundit panel. Trump wrote that de Blasio was “ranting and raving like a Lunatic.”
The former mayor actually talked about the power of a “populist economic message” in America and said many Republicans decided to vote for Democratic candidates in a form of protest against Trump.

Why do you guys continue to point out his age? That has nothing directly to do with anything. It's person to person.

Not mentioned in the OP report:
On Election Night, Fox showed tons of ads.

Trump was blaming everybody for the blue wave. I think the message to Trump and the Republicans that they went too far, and faced the consequences for messing things up.

No, it isn't. Have you ever been 80? It all depends on the individual, just like everything in life. You act like 80 is a potential disqualifier. There are plenty of politicians 80 and over.
In fact there are currently 24 members of Congress and the Senate age 80 and over. Did you post all the others about whom you are concerned? And Trump wasn't even running for office this time, lol.
Those of that age who can't cope don't usually run for president. Or do travel trailer trips all over the country, either.
Except maybe Biden, whom I imagine you never complained about a single time. And he is 3 or 4 years older than Trump, lol.

The fact that individuals vary is why you keep an eye on it.
Certain behaviours—low impulse control, eroding vocabulary, sudden rages, confabulation—go with certain situations. It does not do to be naïve about this.
Often a genetic component exists.

What Fox News isn’t comprehending is that there is no longer such a thing as bad publicity. Especially for people whose positions are so extreme that they should speak for themselves.
But these whack job democrats now look at Fox people railing against them as a badge of honor. They want it.
So what Fox is doing now is making celebrities out of these morons. How much free publicity did they give Talareco, Abdul al Arafat and whatever jacka$$ was running for senate in Maine.
Report things once so that it gets out there. Other than that quit making these idiots into household names.

He owns this loss. At this point he needs to just stfu, finish off Iran and deport as many illegals as humanly possible the next 2.3 years. Congress isn't going to help him do anything.
Hopefully he's not around to screw things up for us in 2028. I truly hate to put it that way but I don't think his ego will allow him to not meddle in 2028. He's toxic now.

RE: Trump blames Fox News for Blue-nami, insists he’s more popular than ever
The Murdochs are looking ahead and thinking about reducing their network’s fealty to a single, losing, personality-based political faction.
The problem? MAGAs want an echo chamber. That is the product Fox has been selling and that is the product MAGAs bought. It is also a product the demagogue-in-chief feels entitled to.
“FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats,” [Trump] wrote.
Trump accurately described Fox’s recent ratings decline, but he blamed it on perceived disloyalty. Media analysts have largely attributed Fox’s slump to GOP voter malaise, and Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch has blamed “viewer fatigue.”
....
There have been some signs lately that Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, the father and son who control Fox News, have been thinking about a post-Trump era and looking ahead to the 2028 presidential election.
But for the time being Fox and Trump awkwardly share a Republican base. When Trump complains about Democrats appearing on Fox’s air, he is voicing how some of Fox’s most ardent fans feel.

I don't think they went too far at all. inflation and Iran killed him and them. I was pissed when he let up in Iran. It should already been done. had Iran been wrapped up early October things would have been better. The fuel cost here is driven not just by supply, but all the refineries that have been shuddered.
People hate high gas/diesel cost. My only worry long term is if things now get worse Trump and republicans will get blamed. and even worse if things take off (which I expect) as all of the business Trump has set up happens, the Dims will get the credit.

As a conservative I haven't watched Fox news in years, so I guess I am responsible for their downturn.

I like a lot of the things he's done but I think it's time for him to leave the spotlight. He's toxic but he's self poisoned himself. He can't handle criticizism and has to retaliate against anyone who disagrees with what he's doing. It's gonna be a long two years. But, as far as what he said about Jessica, he's absolutely right, he described her perfectly. I can't understand why Fox has her on everyone hates her and I have the Five recorded and as soon as I see her mug I erase the recording. Someone at Fox is a dumb S for giving her a voice, they're losing viewers.

A lot of Maga Voters voted blue this time and I saw the signs coming for over a year. There is no need to cheat.
As for Iran? Trump said no new wars, and he got us into a new war, and a lot of the voting based voted blue that way as well.
