Delaware is a good add because they care about athletics and put resources into it. There are teams that can get lucky and have a few good seasons but not be institutionally sound to keep up that success. Delaware has a good foundation, and support from the highest levels of their leadership.

When it comes to footprint, I know y'all are complaining about how it would stretch the footprint. But it would be nice for ODU fans to have an opponent that's less than 5 and a half hours away.

Exit Fee is going up another $3 Million because JMU lost again.

When I gathered 10 years worth of ratings for the big 3 sports, Delaware did not have sustained success and fared poorly against 6 other candidates (Ohio, Jacksonville State, WKU, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State, and Liberty):

Football Sagarin Rating - 7th (last)
Basketball NET/RPI - 7th (last)
Baseball RPI - 5th

U of D is 4 and a half hours away from ODU. That’s like if the 6 schools in the west not named La Tech left the conference and they got left on an island with the eastern schools, and their solution was to go pick up Tarleton State 5 and a half hours away in the wrong direction.

But there is a school that’s only 3 and a half hours away from y’all, in the right direction, that’s being considered here

That actually happened to Tech shortly after we joined the WAC, a bunch of the current AAC west teams left to join CUSA when Big East raided CUSA, leaving Tech on an island.
