RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 7
So, Tarleton has arrived at the number one spot in FCS. Not sure how concrete this is considering the defense continues to do just enough each week. I could be wrong but definitely could see things go south in a hurry if the QB Anderson has an injury and is sidelined. Of course that could go on anywhere just seems more prevalent here.

I think it is fitting for now. Yes, Tarleton has to continue to prove it and its defense will be the one more weighted in that. It's still worth a congrats.

Thanks it is a big deal. Now we just have to hold on to it. That is the challenge. We still have ACU UNA and UWF on the schedule.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 7
Well tomorrow the first Top Ten by the Playoff Committee comes out and it will be interesting to see what they think.

Massey's Top 5:
1. Montana State
2. SDSU
3. SFA
4. YSU
5. Tarleton State

How much stock will they put into some of these other rankings rather than the national polls?

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 7
This one is interesting by VS Sports simulator because it actually predicts the outcomes to the title game.

https://www.versussportssimulator.com/co...8?as=today

Edit, for me, not saying I agree with either bracketology. The VS one has both UWF and CCSU. besides MRST. I don't think any of those get in; especially transitioning UWF 03-wink Still, I do think it puts on the correct side of the bracket IF we do happen to get in. We would be more likely to play someone like Lamar than Illinois State. Although I would prefer someone outside our region. I loved it when we played NAU a couple of years back in the first round.

I have a hard time seeing us at #2 yet. Glad this year's OOC showings boosted us in the attached ranking. Sorry ACU didn't help much with that. I think the gap between the Big Sky and UAC has definitely closed. The fact that they are already projecting 3 UAC teams again is proof of that. Can't wait until we get 4 teams in.

Southeastern Louisiana's win is over ULM. FBS yes, but not really that compelling.

So if we had lost to winless Chicago St., would we still be #2?

Apparently losing to a winless program doesn’t drop you in the polls. See Montana State.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 7
For all I said earlier I left at one important detail. There is no doubt Tarleton has won some games this year and last year in ugly fashion but they are still wins. Good teams find a way to win and bad teams find a way to lose. Tarleton has proven they know how win games and that alone gets you ranked.

I watched the Tech - Colorado game took the night off from Chicago State. For three quarters Colorado was game and competitive but when it got to crunch time Tech made the plays that counted and Colorado couldn’t. Bottom line Tech knows how to win in a tight spot Colorado doesn’t. That’s the difference.

Just an observation

No. They are just the only winless team we play.

Then why even make that statement?

It’s a reference to my perceived northern bias inserted in the poll which came out yesterday.

MSU lost to an inferior zero win team and are still #1 in the playoff committee poll. Idaho is now 2-5. One of the excuses was MSU was short four preseason all Americans including their QB. Not sure how their QB being out caused them to give up 35 points in the loss but I’m routing for a team which has only been playoff eligible for three years so apparently I don’t know ball.

If we had lost to the only winless team on our schedule, would we still be #2 in the poll? I know the answer is no as we would be down significantly in the top ten if we were remaining in it at all.

I know Chicago St. is inferior to Idaho, I’m just using the actual teams on the schedules to highlight the hypocrisy I perceive in the national poll.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 7
There is a northern bias.

Montana State did lose to a winless team. They did not get punished.

Tarleton didn't lose. Their record is still unblemished.

In my opinion, if you are the best in the country, you don't lose to someone that is not in the top half.

I'm not sure why the statement needed to be questioned.

You are looking at wins and losses too closely. I understand your reasoning, but that doesn’t make it reasonable.

What???

If wins and losses don’t matter, why keep score?
