Old Fashioned World Series
The World Series will pit the winningest team Milwaukee Brewers of the National League vs the winningest team Tampa Bay Rays in the American league. Before 1969 these two teams would be in the WS as soon as the season end.. Then conferences and playoffs started. The two best teams head to head! after 162 games. Neither team has ever won a World Series. The Brewers have been in one in 1982 losing to the Cardinals! The Rays have been twice. In 2008 losing to the Phillies and in the weird covid season in 2020 losing to the Dodgers. In the covid season Rays were 40 - 20 and the Dodgers were 43- 17. Oddly enough they had the best record. In 2008 neither the Phillies or the Rays had the best record in their league. Here's to an old fashioned WS! Go Rays!!

RE: Old Fashioned World Series
my $$$ will be on Milwaukee and their pitching … the bats are basically the same …. however, I don’t see the Brewers chasing all that high heat from Peralta … the Indians made themselves look silly at the plate…

RE: Old Fashioned World Series
not only is it old fashioned, but old school ball is happening ... great pitching and stellar hitting by the Brewers to this point ... up 7-0 in t5 - up 2-0 in series ... has been pure baseball...

addendum: 8 2-out runs now ... 10-0 ... bwahahahahaha

it's too funny how the baseball threads gain traction, but this one didn't...

that's when you know the difference between the fan of sport, vs. the squirt of fanatic..

Brewers just took all that “true outcomes” and “you have to be all or nothing at the plate because you can’t string together hits against modern pitching” business[/b] and wiped their hineys with it.

the Wiz was the master at the position ... nothing but respect for that man ... however, I'm fine where we're at with Masyn Winn ... they just have to train his bat/vision a smidge better

they need to find those that can paint the box now that ABS has finally become another strategical advantage...

there's a reason Contreras was the MVP (I would've given it to Platt) ... and I never had a corch call pitches as a catcher ... when you're behind the plate, you already know before it gets there...

how he played the ABS was a friggin' masterpiece....

The Brewers were a team of destiny. They just looked the part and dominated.

Yeah Pratt should have got that! If the Rays hadn't come back in game four and his HR had held up I think he might have. Even though he hadn't finished his 6 hits in a row.

no doubt ... and it was tough saying that (b/c he's an ol' pissy boy) ... when folk would ask, "define the sweet spot?" ... it was always, "it felt like another feather from the quiver."

it's too much fun watching someone in the 'zone'...

there's a reason Reggie was "Mr. October"

if you've never watched this, take the time ... it's why baseball will always be dearest to me heart...

go straight to the 26 mark ... Gibson changed the game ... he forced them to lower the mound ... his '68 stat will never be broken...

here's another that's just too cool ... the love/hate relationship with the knuckler ... back in the Dixie Youth days, I caught one we labeled "Eddie Junk" ... we also had a fireballer that was clocked at 89 mph (~105 at mlb distance) and the third guy had a slurve like none other ... 3 completely different pitchers ... Eddie Junk was always the biggest challenge behind the plate or if you had to face him...

how can one not be romantic about baseball...

In an adult league I played in when I was in my early 20s there was guy in his early fifties that threw a knuckler. It would make you use bad language on the way back to the dug out. I would much rather face a guy who thre w hard....as long as he was a rightie!
