This is just overrating SOS differences. Yeah, JMU’s schedule has been weak but Boise State’s isn’t much better honestly. Liberty appears to run away with the CUSA and better than WMU. Memphis is better than UConn or San Diego St. But Boise State still has a loss to now a 2 loss Oregon. Winning has to matter

You're underrating SoS differences pretty significantly, winning matters but so does schedule and strength of your competition. You seriously think Boises schedule is not much better?

Oregon (will still be a top 25 team), Memphis (American Contender), WMU (MAC Contender)

Vs.

Liberty (CUSA Contender), SDSU (Pac Bottom feeder) and UConn (okayish team)

If that SDSU (PAC bottom feeder) were replaced with Va Tech, would you consider the schedules more or less on par? That’s what the schedule was until earlier this year when Va Tech cancelled our game, leaving us scrambling to replace the game.

Crappy move by VA Tech but doesn't change the existing data points which is my point, I'd still have Oregon ahead of Tech, especially when Moore returns.

Boise St average Sagarin rating of wins (including South Dakota) = 83
JMU average opponent Sagarin rating (excluding Wagner) = 109

Remaining games, including projected CCG opponents, are similar to above averages (89 vs 109).

Boise State looked good last night. I didn't watch the JMU game, but statistically that game was even against a 2-4 GSU team. I did watch the Boise State game. Boise State statistically dominated a 4-2 Fresno State team in front of a record 43,086 fans in Fresno. Here are the stats from that game:

Total Yards: Boise State 512, Fresno State 346
Rushing Yards: Boise State 274, Fresno State 69
Time of Possession: Boise State 38:56. Fresno State 21:04

Boise State gashed them on the ground and controlled the clock, which is exactly what you want to do on the road against a good team. There were no turnovers by either team in the game. Boise State was penalized 9 times for 83 yards, Fresno State 2 times for 16 yards. The refs were not doing any favors for Boise State.

One must remember Fresno was missing their #1 RB Speedy Luke, due to turf toe injury from the WSU game. Stats are one thing, but for Boise...they know that Fresno is no slouch and getting a W at VCS is a major feat. That is why this game is circled on each teams roster due to the rivalry. SUDS has been a big disappointment..but Fresno and SUDS will be going for the Oil Can so again rivalry rules out any favorites.

I'm curious to see how good Georgia State is. That could be an underrated team.

Apparently Georgia Southern is a very solid team (at least as one with a losing record). And Oregon State looks competitive, with its two loses coming to Houston and Texas Tech (both ranked).

RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far
Here is my Top 25 of possible finishes. Sorry, no MAC or CUSA within range of the Top 25.

Boise and JMU are obviously the two leaders. Boise has a slight edge but SOS can fluctuate a bit as big opponents win or lose. I also have Boise locked into USU, which the WAC-12 has the ability to tinker with.

UTSA and FAU are also in the same stratosphere, but their chances of making it to 12-1 are slim. Everyone else is <50% chance of a bid and needs help to make it.

#AvgRnk Bid/Bye% (record)+CCG Team (likelihood of 10k)

Yep...so if JMU plays VT and LOSES that is better than beating San Diego St on the road across the country. Oregon is not that good folks. And Boise lost.

Oregon is still better then anyone on JMUs schedule even with a backup QB and they're still receiving Top 25 votes

And Boise State lost to them. You don’t get credit for scheduling good teams if you lose. Maybe you don’t get dinged as hard, but assuming JMU beats UConn. It’s 4-0 is better than Boise’s 3-1. Beating San Diego St is better than losing to Oregon. Beating Liberty is better than beating WMU. Smashing Wagner is better than almost losing to South Dakota. Beating Memphis is better than beating UConn.

The difference comes down to conference play. Boise will have JMU there and will that be enough? It might but it’s not cut and dry.

You are wrong. There's a reason OSU is ranked ahead of Indiana despite having one more loss. Its because OSU lost to a tough team while Indiana has beaten a string of unrankeds, including two who played them close. Thats true in Power football, its true in Group football too.

Because Ohio St has more history not because of losing to Texas who could not beat Oklahoma is better than winning.
Losing to a two loss Oregon is not something to be proud of.
Boise St has the problem of not having anymore good opponents left to up their image. JMU is in the same boat and both have close to the same level of competition to look forward to for the rest of the season.

Utah State 2-4
Fresno State 4-2

JMU Opponents:
Liberty 5-1

San Diego State 2-4
Old Dominion 2-4
Marshall 3-3
Georgia Southern 2-4

Boise State has played five teams with winning records, including one power conference school. JMU has played one team with a winning record and won that game at home, 20-13.

RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far
Its a good conversation and I'm glad we are actually having it. When Oregon (with their store bought QB's) got smacked down by Oklahoma St, who had just lost by 14 to Tulsa, that was a gamechanger for me as to how I looked at Boise. But not for most because Boise was beating Memphis at the same time.

Now Oregon lost to UCLA at home and looked terrible. Sure their QB is out but Oregon had plenty of money to buy QB's.

Oregon did beat USCw, but I'm struggling with them because they were in a dogfight with Rutgers.

My thing about rankings is you have to earn them, not lose them. So preseason rankings mean nothing to me. I look at what you have shown me and make determinations based on that. I could care less if someone was ranked when you played them early in the season.

Boise State opponents:
Oregon 3-2
Memphis 5-1
South Dakota 5-2
Western Michigan 4-2 (Unofficially 5-1)
Utah State 2-4
Fresno State 4-2

JMU Opponents:
Liberty 5-1
Wagner 1-5
San Diego State 2-4
Old Dominion 2-4
Marshall 3-3
Georgia Southern 2-4

Boise State has played five teams with winning records, including one power conference school. JMU has played one team with a winning record and won that game at home, 20-13.

Boise was tied with an FCS team in the 4th qt.
Utah St lost to a FCS team

GaSo has two loses to M2 schools

You can go round and round about both schedules. Still comes down to there is not a dominant team this year. Boise St and JMU are the front runners and neither have a game which will separate them with a win. Losing is the only way a separate comes. If both lose then the boat fills up in hurry with more options.

Let's start with this. Oregon is loaded with talent. They have four players that are likely first round picks in the 2027 NFL draft. That does not assure a team of success, but the preseason predictions were based on past success and returning talent. They lost both their OC and DC to head coaching jobs. They looked out of sync the first two weeks, then seemed to recover the next two weeks, but the loss of Dante Moore really showed up against UCLA. The Bruins had two years of tape on their backup from his time in Nebraska, and they were well-prepared for him. Oregon still has a very good football team. Four of Oregon's five opponents are currently ranked in the Top 25. They need to get Moore back in the lineup.

It is hard to explain what happened to Oklahoma State in Week 1. Because there is no preseason in college football and there is a new coaching staff, these things can happen. In Week 2, they looked very good on offense. They are averaging 45 points per game on offense since Week 1, they are ranked 18th in the nation and Drew Mestemaker, the NCAA passing yardage leader in 2025, is considered a first-round pick in the NFL.

You can over-analyze every game. USC beat Rutgers on the road. Who cares if they won by 7 points or 30 points. USC has defensive flaws, but their offense is very good. Their offense can be a problem for any team, but their defense can also keep the other team in the game. They are not a good team to put money on.

There are no dominant teams in college football. Anybody can be beaten. Georgia is No. 1 this week and among G6 schools, Boise State is No. 1 according to the human polls and the computer polls. This is Week 6 and we are getting a picture in time as we enter Week 7. That is all.

RE: G6 Race Shaping UpSo Far
Here is the CBSSports poll (that ranks everyone). I listed the Top 15 G6 schools which were in the Top 70. Its safe to say no one outside this group is likely getting in. Its enlightening to say the least.

1) 29 James Madison (SBC)
2) 31 Boise State (PAC)
3) 35 New Mexico (MWC)
4) 37 Oregon State (PAC)
5) 39 UTSA (AC)
6) 44 Memphis (AC)
7) 48 ND State (MWC)
8) 50 Fresno State (PAC)
9) 54 Liberty (CUSA)
10) 58 Air Force (MWC)
11) 61 Georgia State (SBC)
12) 63 UNLV (MWC)
13) 64 North Texas (AC)
14) 66 Toledo (MAC)
15) 68 UMass (MAC)

MAC is out of this with 2 teams at the bottom.
SBC also has two teams at 1 & 11, who play each other this weekend and are in the same division (so wont play again in the CCG)
CUSA has Liberty at 9. Likely out based on remaining competition and loss to JMU.
PAC has 3 at 2, 4, & 8. 2 & 8 have played.
AC has 3 at 5,6, & 13. 5 & 13 play in Nov.
MWC has 4 at 3,7,10 & 12. Wow...New Mexico at #3 has to play all 3 other MWC teams before its CCG. They may actually control their own destiny here.

UNLV lost to Illinois State from the MVFC. NDSU lost to Illinois State in the past. If Air Force and New Mexico beats UNLV, NDSU beats New Mexico and New Mexico beats Air Force? We will have a three way tie of the MWC that would determined who will play in the conference championship game. NDSU vs either Air Force or New Mexico. Both Oregon State and Boise State have a history in the past losing a game where they should not in conference play.

UNLV lost to Memphis and North Texas and has rebounded in the last two weeks to beat Cal and ND State. Cal is #79 on the CBS poll right behind West Virginia and NC State.
