I realize there are lots of people here illegally who are honest, hard-working, tax-paying people. I know of some. They want to contribute to our society and be proud Americans. I want to be fair and understanding of these illegals. Many of them work hard while citizens born here are lazy and unproductive.

But the mindset Schumer displays ... simply unacceptable. He shows no recognition of 1. the fact these folks came here illegally (regardless of their good intentions and quality contributions); and 2. the fact that many of them are a drain on our economy and culture.

It doesn't matter - not even a little bit. The illegals being here are not for the ultimate good of the country, just the opposite. They (Somalis) are pretty much destroying Minnesota and robbing the taxpayers (for example) and that is just a small-scale indication of things to come nationwide if this behavior - flooding the country with illegals and allowing them to stay here - remains unchecked. You have no idea how many terrorists came across the border with the hordes of people trekking in during the Sleepy Joe era. To think that probably didn't happen is unconscionable.

I understand your point, Tom. But Schumer did not speak precisely, thus creating confusion.

Yes, there are people here illegally who are contributing to the overall benefit of our society, culture and economy. They are disciplined, hard-working and want to be Americans. We need to at least consider providing them a path to citizenship.

But, and as I interpret it, Schumer suggested all illegals need a path. That's wrong. And that's a fumble on his part as it gives detractors who distrust/dislike even legal immigrants (or who either refuse to acknowledge or can't see that there are illegal immigrants here working hard, paying taxes, etc.) ammunition to attack the Dems and immigrants.

He fumbled (IMO).

We don’t need more people. American productivity, aided by massive capital investment and technology, are far outpacing the rest of the world. We are, by far, the most efficient economy on the planet and in history.

Importing workers only serves to suppress wages, destroying the middle class. As I have posted before, destruction of the middle class is necessary for the acceptance of socialism or dictatorial control. The middle class doesn’t need the government so they will vote to restrict its power. The rich want the power and the poor need the government.

Don’t think of it as replacement if you don’t like that word. Think of it as dilution. You just need to dilute enough for 51% then you can crush the rest with acquired power.

The real problem with the left is the misguided belief that people in power want to help them and “do good” for the people. That want control. They don’t care what it requires to get that control or what harm it causes to the lowly masses.

I would suspect that if all the Hispanics who are living illegally in Nashville were to, in one fell swoop, be deported ... various industries within the city (both construction and hospitality, in particular) would be in significant trouble.

That is not to say that we don't need to address the serious problem of illegal immigration. Folks here illegally are an insult to those immigrants who came here through the correct (and time-consuming) process.

But the wheels of commerce turn in this great nation, in part, because of the illegals who work hard.

Now, as to those illegals not working, committing crime, etc. ... frontier justice is necessary.
