Bartlett posted a map. Land doesn’t vote. The brain trust around here somehow thinks that because there is more red area on a map it means something. It doesn’t because land doesn’t vote.

I posted a map which shows the same thing, county election results, but changes their size based on how many people live there. Because people vote, not land.

67 people live in Loving County, TX. It’s the same size on the map as Dallas county with 2.6M people.

That makes Bartletts map pretty much irrelevant. Land doesn’t vote. Cows don’t vote. If you can’t figure out why that makes Bartletts map irrelevant you are fully in a cult or monumentally stupid.

RE: Biased media
But who owns the land, sir? Who works it? Who lives on it? People who are landowners do. Even those who live in apartment complexes ultimately live on the land in which said complexes are built upon.

The maps provided by Bartlett are valid, sir. It's proof that the Electoral College is the best mechanism to select a world leader ever devised.

I find the map TBF posted interesting — but lacking some context. But many maps of this type lack a bit of context. Not a big deal.

My takeaway from the map is that conservatives are found basically everywhere in the U.S., whereas progressives are much more concentrated.

This, sadly. Again, the land must be lived on and worked by people, preferably land owners.

My take is that U or Elvis, when he notes "Land doesn't vote," means the map distorts the overall power, influence and widespreadness of conservative voters. I agree with that.

But his "land doesn't vote" point is a bit awkwardly made.

This. The Electoral College is a necessary check and balance of population power vs. individual States power. I'm thankful we still have it, too.

Bill: Fair point. That said, check my response to him regarding the Electoral College as well as what stink and myself have said. The Founders knew a true democracy would lead to mob rule, hence the Electoral College mechanism and giving us a representative federal republic with representation in government while keeping the "mob rule" aspect in check. 04-cheers

You got your incompetent sock puppet for four years, the experiment with Max Headroom failed.

Spectacularly.

You obviously are not part of the mindless cult that in complete contradiction to the evidence proclaims 2020 the most secure election ever.

Of course Tang will never admit he's wrong about the slightest point, but that is the sign of a cult.

They do have the same voting rights, but bartletts map shows their vote with 300k times more weight than 67 votes from Dallas county because they are the same size on the map. Bartletts map is irrelevant because it isn’t population normalized. It doesn’t show some supermajority of conservatives, it shows that their is a lot of sparsely populated land where those counties are populated by a few conservatives.

Mob rule vs. individual States' power, Elvis. The Electoral College is a check and balance to keep both in check, as it should be. Population still matters and is weighted, but so is the power of each individual State in the Union. That's why it's the population of each State choosing its Electors to send to Washington and select the Presidential ticket.
