The most unexpected BE win in the tournament since the realignment imo. Maybe Xavier was the bigger underdog against Arizona, but I thought the game was over when they got down by 19.

I think we all thought so - especially after the way that Duke had dismantled St. John’s in the second half.

People are putting it right up there with the Laettner shot in terms of improbability. I think I agree with them. I still want to keep watching it lol

How about some props for Silas Demary. Without his steal, that shot doesn’t happen. Yay, Silas!!
UConn is 17-1 in the NCAA tournament over the past 4 years. Incredible! The Huskies are the biggest nemesis in Duke history.
When Mullins made that shot, he was 0-5 from 3 before that. When Karaban made his big 3 a minute before that, he had been 0-5 from 3 before that if they had needed another 3, Solo Ball was all ready with 0-5 from 3 in the game.
I no longer live in CT but immediately had messages from multiple friends as well as family. My dad and I both yelled so loud we scared my dog, lmao.
There's still a part of me that is absolutely shocked we shot so poorly and won the game. Was awesome going over to the Duke board and seeing how many people blamed the loss on officiating (sound familiar? Lol)
Wow! Duke was awarded 22 FTs vs 17 for UConn. They do want everything handed to them, I guess. As it was, they outscored us by 4 points from the FT line. Not a big enough advantage from their perspective, I guess.
I thought we didn't get a great whistle in the first half, they didn't get a great whistle in the 2nd so it evened out. But they definitely didn't lose because of the refs.
Honestly I was more poking fun at us UConn fans (myself included, at least this year) because we love to complain about the officials and have multiple times in our losses this year lol

Yeah, I get it. It’s easy to complain about refs. They get the calls wrong lot more often than we’d like fir a whole lot of reasons. They’re an imperfect solution for a sport that is so heavily laden with rules. The best we can do is to hire a neutral 3rd party to officiate adherence to the rules, train them so that they know the rules, and supervise them so that they get feedback and correction about what they did wrong and what they need to improve. But it’s a hard sport to officiate. And the only other solution would be to let the teams make the calls themselves, which is obviously a crazy idea. So as long as we have the sport, we’re stuck with these imperfect but neutral 3rd parties.

Way more improbable if you ask me. Laettner's shot has a national title behind it, though. Let's see where this run takes us

Laettner’s shot was just a turn jumper in the key. Bigger thing there was the pass. Mullins shot was a combination of a bad Duke decision, a defensive play, 2 nice passes and then the shot. In both cases, far more than just the shot the shooter gets acclaim for .

Laettner’s last second shot to put Duke in the Final Four in 1990 vs UConn was a much tougher shot than the one he hit against Kentucky IMHO.

I agree. Think it definitely feels more improbable because we hadn't lead since 2-0 in the first too lol.
I'm hoping this runs takes us to #7

The UConn vs. Duke sequence was much more dramatic than the Duke vs. Kentucky play. But that's must my opinion. Others might disagree.

RE: What’s the strategy vs Duke?
Absolutely more dramatic!
Everyone on both sides was completely stunned and couldn’t believe that UConn had just won the game. Even the announcers were stunned. As Jon Scheyer said, “I have no words.” It was so stunning that it took time for what had just happened to sink in - for everyone watching.
