We get about 2% of our oil through Hormuz. Crisis for China.

Of course, the MSM will try to make it a fake crisis here. As will gas stations. They are already jacking up prices, even though their gas was bought much cheaper. We called that price gouging in the good old days.

AGAIN, oil is a global commodity...it's the entire hit that disrupts the market...not just our portion.

Not to mention the LNG, fertilizer, and other important resources shipped through the strait.

Which has zero to do with us jacking up prices here before it ever hits. Which was my point.

we always knew that would be their last attempt...

all they're doing is fk'n the chinks...

tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if we're allowing it to prove to the world how desperate these fkbags think in literal terms of flesh devaluation...

Its cuz it can be done with small boats. The sorry Littoral Combat Ship platform may finally earn its keep. This was the "modular" platform that that had a "mission bay" that was supposed allow the vessel to easily convert the vessel to surface warfare vessel, anti-sub warfare vessel, or mine hunter by just swapping modules. The anti-sub module failed to work. The surface combat module has no over the horizon ability and sucks for blue water combat---but it does have 24 Hellfires can ruin the day for any small boats that attempt to attack it. The good news is the mine hunting module actually works pretty well, though it arrived a decade behind schedule.

The LCS might actually finally earn its keep in the gulf as a mine hunter and as a deterrent to small boat attacks in the area. Its still too limited with respect to anti-air abilities---but at least it can finally contribute to something other than the national debt.

You might find this interesting...

The LCS would not be a great solo escort in its current configuration. Its way under armed (something that can be fixed, but thats another subject). All Im saying is the LCS can help escort---but its real value at this point is its ability to clear mines. They are actually going to be useful if the gulf is mined.

I get that, but not if they can't adequately defend themselves from attack...and that expert is saying they can't as they currently are configured. They might be just sitting ducks...so tough to ask an American soldier to put themself into that position. So as you say, they would need fixed first...which would take some time...if it's even easily doable.

I believe Dem’s should not temper their hope for calamity involving death and destruction in the Strait. It is not assured yet and no evidence exists presently that Iran has placed mines. I suggest a “fingers crossed” mode.

I knew the 'how' ... I also know we can drone attack any coastal movement at will ... just like we're doing with the drug transporters...

hence, why I think we're letting them lay 'em ... I know I would to further prove the point...

we'll see if you're right on the latter ... no better way to find out than on the playing field, Ja?!
I'm thinking China wants to see our mine sweeping tech before they deploy in the South China Sea. The question is how many systems deep are we in anti-mine technology. If two deep we may see what we have. If not sweeping the Persian Gulf isn't worth the "bang!" Besides it is ultimately a China problem not a U.S. problem.

I can't imagine what we have in Space, and we have it, or our latest drone technology would not be on display. We generally do not introduce a novel system until we have a better one as backup. That way we stay ahead of the curve and ahead of our enemies.
