He can’t stand Trump or David Perdue, and was hoping that he would never have to deal with either one of them again.

Okay, both of those answers makes sense. I lived in the Atlanta area from 1981 to 2014, and still live right across the river from Columbus GA, so I have great interest in GA politics, even now.

I just think in the end, it turned out to be a bad decision. If there really were issues, which certainly seemed possible, they should have been pursued, regardless of personal feelings at the time.

On February 5, 2026, newly unsealed grand jury testimony from former U.S. Senator David Perdue has reignited controversy over Georgia’s handling of alleged election irregularities in the 2020 presidential election. Perdue testified before the Fulton County special grand jury investigating election interference that Governor Brian Kemp directly obstructed a probe into ballot harvesting by instructing then-Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Director Vic Reynolds not to pursue compelling evidence.

Perdue claimed that in May 2021, Reynolds reviewed evidence presented by the conservative group True the Vote, including video footage, cell phone geolocation data, bank records, and witness testimony, and told Perdue it was “compelling to be investigated.” However, in November 2021, Perdue said Reynolds called him and stated:

“We’re not going to investigate because… I’m a team player. If the governor doesn’t want to investigate, we’re not going to investigate.”

This testimony suggests Kemp personally intervened to halt a potential criminal investigation into election fraud allegations—a claim that has not been independently verified but is now part of the public record following the lifting of a protective order by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee.

Please provide a link to where you got it. I'd like to read the story. Thanks. (And I do think there may be some truth to it; I just want to read it for myself. 04-cheers)

He was up for reelection in 2022. How well do you think it would have gone for the gop governor in the primary if it was found the dems (in state and out) were allowed to cheat the state out of the president and two senate seats which handed control to the dems when he was the one in charge at the time?

Looking for it, I know it was released sometime this month.

Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee lifted a protective order in early February 2026.

GP has part of it from yesterday.

Definitely.

What unfortunately happened at the time is some kooks were leading the way and they discouraged faith in the voting system and even told Republicans not to vote in the runoff, so the Democrats won both Senate races as Republican turnout was really low.

True the Vote was behind the soundly debunked 2000 mules farce. A wise decision by Kemp.

But I'm sure Perdue thinks someone driving past a drop box with their cell phone on is compelling evidence of fraud. 01-wingedeagle

If that's the case, you should welcome further investigation so you can say "I told you so", when nothing illegal is found. 04-cheers

No one should underestimate to what extent a case of TDS, even with never Trumpers, will cause some people to make very poor decisions.

Raffensberger seems to have TDS. Trump has KDS. He just hates Kemp because Kemp opened up Georgia before Fauci said it was ok. He made Trump look bad because he was right. Trump went on and on in his national press conference attacking Kemp. It was crazy, like he wanted the Democrats to win the Georgia governor's office.

Yeah, all my local TV stations are in Georgia. I'm only 10 miles from Columbus. I'm basically a Georgian at this point. Since 1981.

I just never found out why Kemp acted the way he did, b/c it's not like the local news is going to go after him about it.
