Dems Facing Even More Trouble Now With Money and Unhappy Donors
Quote:A new report is revealing how much trouble the DNC is in terms of money.

The report revealed some of what the DNC is hearing from its donors, and it's not good.

At one point earlier this year, the DNC reached out to big donors to host a San Francisco-area fundraiser headlined by former Vice President Kamala Harris. Most of the donors rejected the request, according to several people familiar with the conversations.

Upon receiving the invitation, one replied with a profanity-laced rejection. Others said they didn’t want to give to the party until it produced substantive plans to win elections. Those who declined told the national party they had commitments and couldn’t make it work.

They ultimately found someone to host, but got less than they expected.

That's brutal. And it tells you what they think about Kamala Harris, at least at this point. She's dropping hints she may run, but I don't think she will find an encouraging reception.

That may explain why Democrats have so much less in the bank than Republicans.

The RNC had receipts of $10.7 million in the most recent month and $86 million in cash reserves as it started October, compared with $10.3 million and about $12 million for the DNC, respectively.

There's also a concern about the radicals, and if the DNC is focused in the right direction.

Rachel Pritzker, a donor and fundraiser who chairs a group trying to push Democrats closer to the center, said many party donors are concerned that the progressivism pushed by such figures as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, the self-described democratic socialist favored in New York City’s Nov. 4 mayoral election, will hurt Democrats.

“They’re worried that the way the party looks and sounds can’t really compete and win elections,” said Pritzker, an heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune and a relative of the Democratic billionaire governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker. “They’re worried that it needs to reorient toward the cultural mainstream and it needs to basically rebrand.”

And why should they give more money after how it was blown on Kamala Harris? They feel as though there hasn't been enough investigation as to how it was spent.

A top official at a national Democratic group said some donors remain angry about how their money was spent in last year’s presidential election by outside groups, including on what they see as excessive salaries for Washington, D.C., consultants. The official said the party has failed to complete a public postelection investigation into what went wrong in 2024.

Pritzker, chair of the group Third Way, said, “It is shocking how little reassessment the party and its leadership has done.”

This report sounds like it tailors to what I reported on Friday about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's problem with donations.

The continuing schism and the failure to address their issues are hurting the Democrats in their pocket. With bad approval, bad policies, and less money, they need to change. But they're just not getting it.

Democratic National Committee STILL Struggling to Pay Off Kamala Harris Campaign Debt Nearly a Year Later

Quote:The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is still struggling to repay Kamala Harris’s campaign debt almost a year after the 2024 election.

The amazing thing about this, is that it’s a reminder that Harris had a campaign war chest of more than a billion dollars, a massive sum for a political campaign, and yet she still lost and she still incurred millions of dollars in campaign debt.

It really is a testament to what an absolutely awful candidate she was and still is. If she runs again in 2028, she will probably be torpedoed by Democrat voters during the primary.

The New York Post has the story on her 2024 campaign debt:

DNC pays off $1.6M in debt for Kamala Harris’ failed campaign as Dems face tight race in New Jersey

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is still paying off shortfalls incurred by former Vice President Kamala Harris’ failed 2024 election campaign — with at least $1.6 million paid out in September alone, according to the latest federal filings.

The Harris campaign shelled out $1.49 million alone for media production and consulting, $106,312 for data services and $21,762 to rent space at a Grand Rapids, Mich. community center for an October 2024 event alongside billionaire investor Mark Cuban touting the Democratic nominee as the “pro-business candidate.”

Last month’s payouts push the total debt covered since Election Day to more than $20 million, according to Axios, which first reported on the Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

Former President Barack Obama’s successful 2012 campaign incurred a similar level of debt that the DNC three years to fully pay off, with former chairwoman Donna Brazile claiming the 44th commander-in-chief’s “neglect had left the party in significant debt.”

Harris made a “handshake deal” with the national party after Donald Trump defeated her this past November, under which the DNC agreed to cover $20.5 million in outstanding campaign bills, The New York Times reported in August.

It’s amazing that Harris was able to burn through so much cash in such a short period of time. It does not speak well of her, either.

This is why she wouldn’t make it through a primary. Democrat voters still feel like they got ripped off, which they basically did.

Except we hear this all the time about both parties.

All it'll take is someone running who's edgy and the libs fawn over and the coffers will be overflowing.

Until they take a 20/80 position instead of an 80/20.

New Report Gives Democrats Yet Another Warning That Their Far-Left Ideas Stink

Quote:Since last November's presidential election, we have witnessed a live definition of insanity. The idea is that if you continue to do something that has proven to be unsuccessful over and over, somehow you will get a different result. Democrats refuse to listen to anyone, much less the American people, and continue to push ridiculous far-left-wing policies, convinced that it will get them a win in the 2026 midterm elections. They have gathered at summits and retreats where they have been told to lose the lefty lunacy time and again. Now, a new report is once again sounding alarm bells for Democrats.

A center-left group called "Welcome" began life as a PAC in 2022, then went on to found a nonprofit by the same name for political research. Over six months, they consulted with hundreds of thousands of voters. Their results sound like a broken record. Of the voters surveyed, 70 percent said the Democratic Party is "out of touch." Most of the voters surveyed said they believe Democrats over-prioritize issues such as “protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans,” and “fighting climate change" over issues like “securing the border” or “lowering the rate of crime.” But this is not going to be some wonky political report that no one ever sees. Welcome plans to distribute the report to elected Democrats and will hold events to promote it in Washington, D.C., and New York.

Like many others before it, the report urges Democrats to lose a lot of their trademark faculty lounge rhetoric about topics like race, abortion, and LGBTQ issues. They also recommend nominating more candidates who are willing to work and vote with Republicans on conservative immigration and crime legislation. Former Democrat Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos ran the House Campaign Committee when the party lost seats in 2020. She endorsed the report and said, “The Democratic Party had better listen — for the good of our nation."

The report looked closely at the period of time between 2013 and 2024, the beginning of Obama's second term and the end of the Biden administration. They found some interesting things. The rate of Democrat co-sponsorship for bills like reparations went from one percent to 57 percent, support for assault weapons ban bills rose from 41 percent to 88 percent, giving federal prisoners voting rights went up from four percent to 41 percent, and bills aimed at getting rid of state abortion limits went from roughly 60 percent to 98 percent. At that same time, the notion that Democrats are "too liberal" went up from 47 percent to 55 percent.

Welcome has been trying to get Democrats' attention for a while. Back in June, a group of so-called centrist elected officials, candidates, and others gathered in Washington, D.C., where a possible looming civil war within the party was, ironically, the elephant in the room. Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) said of the other wing of his party:

“When you read the documents of the national Indivisible group, they spell it right out, as plain as day, that they’re throwing out the Blue Dogs and New Dems. Their goal is to divide the Democratic coalition until they are 100 percent in the image of the progressive caucus.”

Back in May, the Ragin' Cajun, James Carville, tried to help his party by giving them a list of "seven dirty words," some of which were phrases they needed to lose yesterday. Included on the list were "equity," "oligarchy," and phrases like "communities of color" and "generational change." I predicted then that they would not listen. As if the results of this survey weren't enough, my colleague, Nick Arama, recently reported on the Democrats' ongoing financial woes and angry donors. Republicans currently have around $86 million on hand, and Democrats just $12 million. When trying to drum up support for a recent fundraiser for former Vice President Kamala Harris, one donor replied to the invite with a string of profanities.

As thousands gathered at a rally for Democratic Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Sunday, it appears that the more groups like Welcome try to keep Democrats from going over the cliff, the more Democrats are intent on jumping off.

Even if “Democrats” just magically disappeared, all of the anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, anti-GOP-type people would still converge into a new thing that would be remarkably similar to what Democrats look like right now.

What side of a 50/50 position is the Democrat party on now, much less an 80/20 position?

I basically agree with this, but it’s important to keep in mind that polling data on that topic varies according to how you ask the question. Another thing is that “Democrats”, “Republicans” and “Independents” do not each have 1 unified/monolithic view of the matter. I’ve known plenty of people who hold the minority view within their own party but keep voting for that party’s candidates anyway. It can be a very complicated/emotional subject, to be sure.

Having said all that, I do think it’s fair to say that at the level of presidential nominations and Supreme Court nominations, the Democrats have consistently nominated people who are opposed to any legal restrictions on abortion at all. Ask someone like Kamala Harris or Tim Walz or Ketanji Brown Jackson when abortion should be illegal, and the answer you’ll eventually get — if you can penetrate the wall of noise and evasion — is “Never”.

And that actually is a “20/80” issue when you frame it that way.

I just wonder if the Dnc will donate their short supply of money to Imadummi? If they do, it means they're endorsing socialism.
