‘America Is Back’: Wall Street Roars as Inflation Beats Expectations, WH Warns Dems A
Quote:The White House is celebrating the release of a September inflation report (delayed by the Schumer Shutdown) that revealed a 3% annual price rise—below Wall Street's 3.1% forecast.
The news drove major stock indexes toward record highs in pre-market trading, bolstering expectations for further Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.
Rate cuts, which President Trump has been demanding for some time, have the potential to unleash the labor market while making borrowing and spending cheaper for businesses and consumers.
The latest news was good for action on Wall Street.
"Futures in all three major indexes — the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial, and Nasdaq — are all at least a half point in the green in pre-market trading, and reaching toward record highs," the Daily Mail reported Friday morning.
CNBC anchor Joe Kernen noted that the "sky is falling" predictions from economists and experts about President Trump's tariffs were clearly widely overblown.
"The stock market has been telling us what to believe ever since Liberation Day," Kernan said. "The stock market said this is not going to be the end of the world, like so many—like almost unanimously—business reporters said tariffs were the end of the world, and here we are, what are we up, 36 percent since then?"
The advice of experts and a few bucks will get you a cup of coffee these days. The science on COVID was settled, too, until it wasn't. The math was settled on tariffs, until it wasn't.
"Today’s new Consumer Price Index reveals inflation smashed market expectations once again in September — with prices holding steady and wages beating inflation as President Donald J. Trump ushers America into a new Golden Age," a White House press release reads. "Under President Trump, America is back — but inflation is not."
President Trump also posted celebratory messages on his Truth Social platform, noting that the "stock market is stronger than ever before because of tariffs."
"The United States is wealthy, powerful, and nationally secure again, all because of tariffs!" he added.
Panicans, hardest hit.
Still, the administration is warning that the Schumer Shutdown "risks grinding that progress to a halt."
“Inflation came in below market expectations in September thanks to President Trump’s economic agenda. This is good news for American families, and it’s a shame the Democrats are using them as ‘leverage’ to fund health care for illegal aliens," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
"Democrats choosing to keep the government closed will likely result in no October inflation report, which will leave businesses, markets, families, and the Federal Reserve in disarray.”
Which is precisely what they're hoping for.
House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (MA-05) admitted in a recent Fox News interview that Democrats see the shutdown as a rare "leverage" moment worth the suffering of American families.
"Shutdowns are terrible and, of course, there will be, you know, families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously," Clark revealed. "But it is one of the few leverage items we have."
Democrats in the Senate voted down the GOP-led stopgap spending bill for a 12th time on Wednesday.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll from last month shows the GOP holds a ten-point lead on the topic of which party has a better plan to fuel the American economy.
The numbers tell the truth. It's the people who are the experts under Trump's administration.

lol, 3.0% vs 3.1% doesn't seem like all that much, but the markets are loving it.

Its mostly because it was below expectations. The fear was it would be over expectations due to tariffs. Personally, I think the stock market is waaaaaay over its skis when it comes to its annual forward looking earnings expectations. Everything is indicating the economy is slowing (inflation, hiring, key commodities like copper/oil---not to mention the Fed lowering rates----are all different soures telling us the economy is slowing----not heating up). The truth is this is an entirely momentum driven market----the fundamentals arent really the keys to this market and are largely being ignored---well, at least until they arent.). Periods of overvaluation can last much longer than one might think.

He probably said the same thing in Trump's first term, only it was Obama instead of Biden.

It's not so much the .1%, it's what's NOT in there. Inflation darn near nonexistent and could continuing tracking a bit lower going forward. After the enormous inflation spike under the incompetent Sloe* Admin, this is very good news for everybody, whether you're in the Market or not.
Just today- DOW 47,000 and change. Record close and this run is only getting started.
May God continue to Bless the good ol US of A.

I’m having trouble being confident in any prediction, economy or market wise. We are at the onset of a major shift with AI, and it’s not a 10-year down the road issue, it’s happening now. It’s great for companies and the market, but alternately horrible for the consumer base. Long term that is bad for the market, but there could well be fortunes made in the next 24-36 months by those that ride AI the way people rode the tech boom of the 90s.
I have always been a fundamental investor. I didn’t profit off the tech boom because the fundamentals didn’t support valuations. I’m not sitting out the AI opportunity. I have bank and consumer stocks I have had for 10-20 years. I have matched my total returns on those stocks in six months with some AI chip plays. I am now investing in data center plays, mainly crypto miner companies that are converting their assets for AI data use.

I think another, more conventional way to ride the AI wave may be power generation and any company that profits from the expansion of that area. The current grid barely can handle what we have on it in most states----and nothing is more power hungry than AI and digital currencies. The fact is---the AI (or digital currency) boom everyone is expecting isnt ever going to happen until the power grid is capable of providing the needed juice.

I have long term options on HOND. It’s a cutting edge nuclear play, one of a few companies working under a DOE program for nuclear capacity expansion, and only one of two that is publicly traded (and that’s only through a reverse merger that hasn’t closed yet).
