That whole movie, Heartworn Highways, is good, like the album of the same name.
Townes was a tortured soul. While many claim that John Prine is THE force behind Americana, I'd have to say that Townes shares at least equal credit for the genre.

I know most have heard this song as popularized by the likes of Willie and Merle and, to a lesser extent perhaps, by Jerry Jeff Walker. What many may not know is that it was written by Townes Van Zandt.

This is what is coming if we are ever foolish enough to let the Left have absolute power again… The Biden Administration was just the beginning….
This song was released in June 1996. It has predicted things like we have already seen. Our Democrat Governor closed our Churches here in Kentucky in 2021. The Biden Administration targeted Catholics….
We will lose our country if a Democrat is ever elected again
RE: if you had to cherry pick a song to describe _______
Hey stink, I've just made a life changing decision and have quit 10 gauge string on my Les Pauls and have moved down to 9's. I've played 10's for 25 years but after getting my uncles Gold Top after his passing I've noticed how much smoother it is playing his and its because of those 9's. Then I changed my Cherry Burst to 9's for the first time ever and I think I'm done forever with the 10's.
The power chords with heavy distortion actually sound tighter with the 9's, and its way easier for a lot of bends which I'm doing a lot of these days. No more ripping the skin off my fingertips or rubbing them raw.
This is my theory on life now......play with 9's, date 10's and always crank my Marshall to 11.
RE: if you had to cherry pick a song to describe _______
I did have to slightly adjust the intonation of my low E and A strings after the change but I think it might have needed it some even before. Both those are really easy adjustment on Les Pauls.
All you do is change strings, tune up and check each string on the tuner open and then at the 12th fret. If the 12 fret note is flat you shorten the string, if its sharp you lengthen it.
Surprisingly easy stuff once you do it a few times.

lol ... now that's what I call 'music theory' at its finest ...
since I'm almost always in drop or open on the tele, I've gravitated to EB power slinky 11 thru 48 (sometimes I'll toss a 52 on the low E for giggles) ... my bendin' days are mostly over ... (friggin' arthritis - I don't have the hand strength anymore to play extended periods of time) ... plus, I tended to pop the B and the E after a few hrs. playing 9's (I used to have a 'heavy' hand) ... needless to say, I always had extra 9's and 11's on hand back in those days...
it's great you're still into the groove (it's been a couple of years now, correct?) ... are you still hooked up with your old band?
it's been a while since I've jacked in the tele ... I'm playing the Martin almost exclusively these days ... this winter, I have decided to spend more time honing my finger/chick'n pickin' ... it's in dire need of some serious work ...

screw dailymotion ... the ads are beyond annoying w/o the ability to bypass ... found it on youtube ... fyi, you don't have to wait for skip ad when they appear ... just click refresh or F5 to get back to the vid ... sometimes you have to rapid fire a few times ... old dog, old tricks still work ..

Gotta go with a Sinatra classic, and an optimistic tone. "My Way" embodies Trump, and he has been and remains an awesome President. This video is old, but remains awesome.

cheers, Eric ... good times, bruv, good times!!!
I'm headed back to Memphis next week and will be there through Christmas. We have plans on playing every single weekend and even during the week when possible lol.
Everyone seems more juiced for it than they have been in over 20 years. They all keep calling me to confirm I'm headed down and what songs they want to work on and what they have been writing.
I just bought a 2003 Marshall Triple Super Lead (TSL 122) which is the 2x12 combo version of the half stack I used in the old days. Got it for just $599 from Guitar Center in Pensacola FL (mail order). OHHHH playing that 3 channel amp is like going home after 10 years away. lol
The band split up 20 years ago, everyone has raised their kids and now everyone wants to dive back in full bore for as much time as we have left in this life. lol
If things keep up like this I'm gonna have to move back permanently just for the music and good times.
Everyone is sober and clean these days, so it just about the music and having fun now.
